Ange Postecoglou has openly discussed the likelihood of players leaving Celtic during the summer.

Until the arrival of the Australian in the summer of 2021 departures was a subject to dread for Celtic fans but little seems to faze the current boss who lost Kris Ajer, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie during his first weeks in charge.

Earlier this season Josip Juranovic, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Moritz Jenz were essential in Celtic’s Champions League campaign but had moved on to pastures new when the celebrations kicked off at Tynecastle on Sunday.

At the Celtic AGM in November Postecoglou spoke of how he never gets too attached to players with a level of turnover required to keep pushing for improvement.

Asked about players being transferred out, Postecoglou told the Daily Record:

It’s always a possibility but there are different decisions you make around players. Sometimes players feel a desire to move on and it works well for the club.

We are always going to do what’s best for the football club. It’s got to marry with what we are trying to achieve. But I think what we have shown is that whether it’s absences through injury or through people leaving the club, we are still strong enough to be able to tackle the tasks ahead.

There are no major players running out of contract this summer but there are issues with players out on loan with Vasilas Barkas, Albian Ajeti and Ismaila Soro with deals running until May 2024.

David Turnbull, Joe Hart and Aaron Mooy also have a year left on their contracts.
