Kris Boyd has turned to budgets and spending power to explain Celtic’s Scottish Cup semi-final success at Hampden which puts them firmly on course for a domestic treble.

Micky Beale has made similar claims but the facts of the transfer market can be used very selectively to suit any argument.

In January Ange Postecoglou sold Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis with a £3m surplus generated after Alastair Johnston, Tomoki Iwata, Yosuke Kobayashi and Oh Hyeon-gyu were brought in as cut price replacements. At Ibrox Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin were signed without any first team players departing.

Last summer spending was fairly similar between the two Glasgow clubs with Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alexando Bernabei costing a similar sum to Ben Davies, Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo and Antonio Colak..

No one has the complete figures for both clubs spending but the Daily Record reports:

Asked on Sky Sports how disappointing the season was for a club the size of Rangers and with their budget to finish without a trophy, Boyd said: “You can point to budgets; if that is the case then the way the season has panned out is the correct one.

“Celtic have got by far the biggest budget in the country. I mean, Ange Postecoglou has spent a fortune to a man to get the team he has assembled. So, Celtic have the biggest budget, but that doesn’t mean to say you can’t beat Celtic.

“I think you start looking for excuses when you start going after budgets. Rangers, if you go back to winning the league, the recruitment has been way off it. There are no other words.”

Celtic’s bigger stadium capacity and superior commercial deals do provide additional income but that can be wiped out by signings like Vasilis Barkas and Albian Ajeti on the back of deals for Boli Bolingoli, Vakoun Bayo, Ismaila Soro, Patryk Klimala and Marian Shved.

The success of Postecoglou’s first season was based on a rebuild following the sales of Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard.

To mention budgets would be an “excuse”. Who said that KRIS BLOODY BOYD in the very article about”budgets”…. how on earth does this person get employed

Is that really the best excuse that this fat think hun prick has to offer?
The real truth is since the arrival of Ange the cash reserves within Celtic have doubled, the increased value upon the playing squad is well above the 100M mark and this also at a time of having still paying out wages upon far to many, that haven’t contributed nothing to our success on the pitch either.
This still hopefully will get tidying up in the summer still, with plenty of room available for the strengthening that still needs requiring for next seasons CL campaign and keeping our dominance of Scottish football intact also.
The scum on the other hand have wasted more money upon shite and court cases they can’t win, and not even finished yet in doing so.
Been paying way to much on wages to keep hold of serial losers and continue to add to it still.
The thick zombies have got there wishes in getting rid of so many within there board who have struggled to keep them afloat and cost them a small fortune in doing so.
So will all the DOBs follow suit and cough up so much money for such returns in shit?
Budgets my hole, Celtic are finally been run in a manner that a modern day football club should be, and has taken long enough in doing so, regardless of the success that was still able to be achieved in doing so.
We remain as the template of how Scottish clubs should and can be run, the scum still offer a template of how Scottish clubs can and will be destroyed, just a shame far to many copied the scum template, so no surprise that they struggle in the manner that they do.

Big fake Kris Boyd ain’t seen nothing yet ! Having the funds available in the bank ,don’t be surprised when Ange spends big and wisely in the Summer window . Who would not want to be a Celtic player right now ? Guaranteed Champions league football next season ,a manager so far ahead of his contemporaries, they are choking on his dust trail ,a support which is the envy of world clubs and a winning side on the pitch which means sponsorship deals worth millions of pounds to keep this well oiled machine triumphant ! Man ,they will be forming an orderly queue to give Celtic FC money and sponsorship …. The future is here !
