Micky Beale has taunted the media that they are on a wild goose chase over his summer signing targets.

The Ibrox boss might fink that he is the smartest guy in the room but he should be careful with the people tasked with polishing up a ragbag of free agents imported directly from the English Championship.

Beale had lived a life of total neglect until he arrived at Ibrox in November, now he revels in having groups hanging on his every word with the Daily Mail going as far as publishing claims that the rookie boss is in the same category as Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino.

Yesterday it was announced that five experienced professionals would be walking out of Ibrox for free next week with Kieran Dowell and Dujan Sterling their likely replacements.

Even some of the Gullible & Deluded will question that but with Dowell billed as a former Everton starlet and Sterling turning down a contract from Chelsea most bears can be convinced that they are about to sign Kevin de Bruyne and Kyle Walker.

With McGregor finally getting the heave Jack Butland has been transformed into a world-beater despite not playing a single match this season.

Asked about signing Butland the Daily Record reports:

However, he appeared to suggest a move for Crystal Palace keeper Jack Butland is no longer imminent. He said: “We’ll announce a new signing (on Wednesday). There’s different bits going on, there are different parts to the window. You have the moment when players are out of contract that you can announce coming in.

Most of our work will be done on buying and selling so that will be done in a few weeks when the window opens. We will announce a goalkeeper in the next 10 days or so I believe, so it is pretty much done. Butland is still an option. You guys (the media) are on a wild goose chase and you are getting further away.”

A decision on Malik Tillman is expected next week, the SPFL will open up on August 5/6 next season with the Third Qualifying round for the Champions League being played on August 8/9 and 15th.

There’s an old adage, which says that “If you’re going to engage in a battle of wits, you should at least come armed.” In Beale’s case, he’s bringing a water pistol to a gunfight, in that respect. In contrast, Ange arrives in a heavily armoured tank that could down fighter jets.

    Who are they selling? ?

Editor: Scott Wright and Jon McLaughlin, good luck with that.
