Celtic could be backed by as many as 45,000 supporters at Hampden in the Scottish Cup Final.

Precise details of the ticket allocations haven’t been revealed but it is understood that Inverness Caley Thistle were given 8,000 tickets with a further 2,000 kept back if the original allocation sold out.

Now it is claimed that the Championship side will only have 6,000 fans at Hampden with the original allocation still to be taken up.

Late this afternoon The Sun reported:

CALEY THISTLE will be cheered on in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final by barely 6,000 fans.

SunSport understands sluggish sales for the showdown with Treble-chasing Celtic have forced club chiefs to hand back a few thousands briefs to the SFA which are now expected to be handed over to their Hampden opponents.

Later the report adds:

Now, though, rank Championship underdogs Caley Thistle face having to take on the might of Ange Postecoglou’s Celts with far fewer than the 10,000 they’d previously hoped for.

Celtic have been allocated the whole of the North and East Stands and will now have the bulk of the East Stand- the three Stands most visible to television viewers.

The South Stand Debenture section has been taken up by Celtic fans with Inverness Caley Thistle fans getting half of the South Stand.

After collecting the SPFL Premiership trophy on Saturday Ange Postecoglou’s side go to Hampden on Saturday looking for a domestic clean sweep of honours- making it five treble successes in seven years.
