Danny Wilson believes that there is no chance of Auston Trusty going to Ibrox in a £2m deal.

The defender joined Arsenal from Colorado Rapids in January 2022 on a three year deal and has just completed an impressive loan spell at Birmingham City where he played in 44 matches in the Championship marathon.

At the age of 24 and having recently made his USA international debut it is unlikely that Arsenal will be ditching the defender with a fee of £2m not going to bring the Gunners around the negotiating table.

This week there has been a warm flow of good-news stories to deflect Ibrox fans away from Celtic’s title celebrations but it seems that the Trusty tale has been over-egged.

Former Banter Years star Danny Wilson played beside Trusty for Colorado Rapids, speaking to The Sun he ruled out a cut price deal to be part of the Beale Revolution:

The way I’ve seen Rangers try to play, particularly in the Celtic games where they’ve tried to suffocate them and not allow them out, makes me think someone of Auston Trusty’s profile fits the bill.

Also, I saw that the belief was Rangers could do a £2 million deal for him. Well, I’d think that would be an unrealistic price tag on Auston for what you’d be getting.

He’s 24-years-old, he’s just played 44 games in the Championship this year and 50-plus over the course of the season having also gone straight from Colorado Rapids to play in England.

So, he’s not really had a break – it shows the fitness of the guy, he doesn’t miss many games, if any. So, I think someone who has played that well – winning a few supporters’ player of the year awards – it would be tough to get him for £2 million.

If Rangers were to get him for that I reckon it would be a steal. I can’t see it happening at that level. Arsenal bought him in January last year and that was a measure of his potential.

He came back to us for a loan spell before then going to Birmingham. Only a few months ago he got his first USA cap.

Auston took a little while to get going for the Rapids. But then he suddenly took off, playing in the left side of a back three, and he took his game to a different level.

Auston earned his move to Arsenal, there’s no doubt. And after going to Birmingham on loan he hasn’t really looked back.

I’m delighted for Auston at how things have been going. He’s a good lad and he’s also intelligent. He’ll always think carefully about what’s best for his career.

Auston’s 25 this year and he’s got the capability of quickly rising to a lot of different levels in the game. I’d be delighted to see him go to Rangers but I’m not quite sure if that’s what will happen.

A loan deal for Trusty might be an option but after taking over at Ibrox Beale ruled out loan deals as not being in the interests of the club.

FFS, I just wonder what his ‘Trustiness’ has done to hurt Wilson THAT badly that he’d love to see him at the shite the SS Shieldhall missed!
    Hurting huns, old or new,
    Useful they are few,
    Banter years, angry bears,
    Their fuses they’ve all blew.

Maybe the Trusty one should contact his fellow US NT players who are now nowhere near the US squad since joining Sevco.
