While exotic transfer raids are being planned on Serie A strikers the reality of Micky Beale’s budget has been confirmed with a new contract for an unused back-up goalkeeper.

Kieran Wright never played a single game in the season just finished but the 23-year-old has just signed a two year contract extension.

Allan McGregor’s exit and a willingness to offload Jon McLaughlin suggests that Wright will be second choice behind Robbie McCrorie next season.

With 23 first team appearances at Alloa, Partick Thistle and Dumbarton over the last three years Wright remains an unknown quantity with his last matches being in the Dumbarton side that was hammered in last season’s League One Play Off by Edinburgh City.

Dujan Sterling is expected to sign an Ibrox contract this week, joining Kieran Dowell at the Revolution.
