Two weeks after killing tradition by switching the kick-off time of the Scottish Cup Final, Ian Maxwell has emerged from his Hampden bunker.

Celtic and Inverness Caley Thistle both objected to the switch away from a 3pm kick-off but it seems like pressure from the BBC forced Maxwell to jump.

Despite the popularity of football in Scotland for the third season running Maxwell has been unable to find a sponsor prepared to be associated with the premier competition of the SFA.

Playing the showpiece game of the season at 3pm would have diminished the competition according to the CEO of the SFA, more than a few fans pointed out that the match had been diminished by switching kick-off time to take second place to events at Wembley.

Only Maxwell seems to think that the 5.30pm kick-off is a good idea, despite the statements it is unlikely that the CEO will be criticised at the AGM of the SFA on June 6.

An uninspiring man completely out of his depth, what qualifications he had for this position must be in doubt as he did nothing of note at PTFC. He does not appear to value the product he is supposed to promote, looks like he’s happy to allow anyone to control what he fails to stand up for.
Cynically I can only reach the conclusion that his lodge number was the true qualification in getting the job.

OK, if we give Maxwell the benefit of the doubt, 🙁

and go along with his ‘justification’ for moving away from the 3pm K.O.,

then it begs the obvious question:

Why didn’t the SFA communicate a changed K.O. time as early as last August?

Last August Maxwell would have known what games were clashing – the FA Cup and the Women’s Champion’s League Final – as he mentioned.

Why did the SFA make such a late change just weeks before the Scottish Cup Final?

Additionally, the thicko SFA CEO should now clealry and categorically communicate to

the paying punters – us! – that future Scottish Cup Finals will NEVER be at 3pm again,

unless the English Cup Final is on a different day?

The SFA doing SFA, as per.

If Maxwell has been ordered by the BBC to play our Scottish cup final at 5.30pm instead of the traditional time of 3.00pm because of a conflict of interest with the land of England ‘s cup final ,he really has sold his soul to the devil .

What is the point in having the BBC Scotland channel if it’s not being used for our alleged sports flagship occasion ? It wouldn’t take too much work to arrange the cup final to be broadcast on our very expensive national channel in HD .. Would it ?

I’m telling you ,when it comes to production of anything of substance by our so called sports providers (BBC , STV etc ) we are the an absolute worldwide embarrassment ! When some say Scotland is the greatest wee country on earth , the emphasis is on the ‘wee !

    Another empty blazer.

  • Nick66 says:

If Sevco were in final would they have allowed the SFA to shift the time?

  • Charles says:

What’s gonna happen if the FA final has 10 minutes extra time meaning it could be 5pm final whistle. Add 30 mins extra time if a draw and then even penalties worst case scenario. This could reach a 6pm finale.
Do we the fans in Scotland miss 30 minutes of our game on TV or what.
Will Celtivtv be covering the final.

  • James Cullen says:

Maxwell making excuses for this switch, which not only deposed Scottish fans …especially Inverness fans travelling….but both sets of a traditional kick off…but undermines the Scottish game by such preposterous excuses.

I read a report maxwell says he consulted Inverness….didn’t see that he did the same with celtic….but WHEN did he consult with them….before he switched or after.

The Scottish government wrote to the SFA and were not happy with the lack of response when even at a second attempt at communication, the SFA had STILL not responded to the questions asked.

In truth it looks like MAXWELL has put TV money before tradition…..and that tells you what clubs…especially big clubs like celtic…need to do….WITHDRAW FROM THE TV DEAL…..and starve the masonic biased SFA of funds ….they obviously pander to the TV more than the clubs or supporters.

Celtic could easily dwarf any monies on TV sales than the SFA pays.

The SFA needs a total overhaul….because the men in brogues have no interest in the supporters or the clubs…..with the exception of the favoured club who pulled out the CINCH deal…have threatened to pull away from the TV deal and the drinks sponsor.

Further, why are the SFA having candlelit meetings over a meal with the tribute act….further skullduggery…hh
