In April 2015 Ange Postecoglou was the manager of the Australian national team when Celtic faced Inverness Caley Thistle in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

Tom Rogic missed the game through injury which would probably have ended Postecoglou’s interest in what turned out to be a very controversial match from Hampden.

Leading 1-0 Celtic were denied a clear penalty and the opportunity to play against 10 men when referee Steven McLean and his additional assistant Alan Muir, behind the goal-line, failed to penalise Josh Meekings for using his arm to stop a netbound header from Leigh Griffiths.

Despite the protests of the Celtic players the game continued, 1-0 to Celtic with Meekings still on the pitch.

Craig Gordon was sent off 10 minutes into the second half, in extra-time David Raven put Inverness Caley Thistle 3-2 in front with Ronny Deila denied the chance to win a domestic treble.

Without giving away too much detail it seems like John Kennedy and Stevie Woods have informed their current gaffer of what went on that day at Hampden.

CELTIC TV: What do you say to people that say it should be a walkover?

AP: The people that I’ve spoken to at this club don’t tell me that, they tell me about last result against them which makes you realise that if you are not on it on the day that you can be beaten. There are consequences to that. I can assure you that no-one here is going into it with anything other than the approach that we will have to be at our absolute best to win it on the day.
