Kyogo Furuhashi has pulled out of attending tonight’s Scottish Football Writers Association Awards night on medical grounds.
The Celtic striker was injured and substituted early in the second half of Saturday’s 5-0 win over Aberdeen.
Although he appeared to be limping Kyogo was fully involved in the post match celebrations as Celtic picked up the SPFL Premiership trophy.
The striker was due to collect another Player of the Year Award tonight but The Sun reports:
The SFWA said: “Unfortunately, on the advice of Celtic’s medical staff, the SFWA Player of the Year Kyogo Furuhashi is now unable to attend the awards dinner after sustaining an injury. Kyogo and Celtic have relayed their sincere apologies.”
The extent of any injury will be the subject of speculation but there is unlikely to be any comment from Celtic until towards the end of the week when there will be scheduled media activities ahead of the Scottish Cup Final.
Oh Hyeon-gyu came off the bench to score twice against Aberdeen but with 33 goals for the season Ange Postecoglou will be looking to have his top scorer in his Starting XI at Hampden.
