Yang Hyun-joon has spoken out about his frustrations over Gangwon knocking back what he describes as a good offer to join Celtic.

The Korean side are in mid-season and want to complete the deal with a six month loan back to tie in with their domestic needs.

Hyun-joon would prefer a summer move to Europe to give him a pre-season at his new club with Celtic’s interest well documented in the Korean media.

Capable of playing on either wing with an eye for goal Hyun-joon looks similar to the other wingers at Celtic although Brendan Rodgers may have different priorities.

The Irishman has technically been in place for less than a week but met up with Odin Thiago Holm for talks before his transfer to Celtic was completed.

Speaking to Sport-G, Hyun-joon gave a revealing insight into his current situation:

It is every player’s dream to go to Europe. I am also in a difficult situation, but I want to challenge Europe. Of course, since I belong to Gangwon now, it is my professional mindset to do my best for the Gangwon fans.

I am trying to do my best in the game. First of all, I told the CEO of Gangwon, the general manager, and the coach that I wanted to go to Europe because opportunities like this aren’t common.

The club asked me about going to Europe this winter, but I think it will be easier to adapt to it in the summer.

The team is in a difficult situation, but when I received a transfer offer from the United States (MLS) last year, I stayed with the team with the goal of going to Europe.” . He was told to actively help.

This time, a good offer came from Celtic, and I am honest with myself that I want to go. I have to be careful to speak of course. I still want to go to Europe, but if Gangwon rejects this offer, I have to do my best as a member of Gangwon. I think that’s pro. This situation is difficult. I talk a lot with the hyungs, and I also consult with my acquaintances, parents, and agents.

In January Celtic signed Oh Hyeon-gyu with Postecoglou opening up the South Korean market to the club’s recruitment team.
