Sam Lammers appears to be close to joining the Micky Beale Revolution- becoming the first summer signing to cost a transfer fee.

The Dutchman has scored seven league goals in the last four seasons but is getting the big billing from the Scottish media as Beale tries to come up with the goal-scoring threat to challenge Celtic.

Lammers is registered with Atalanta but has been sent out on loan to Sampdoria, Empoli and Eintracht Frankfurt where he has toiled to find the form that earned him a £9m move from PSV Eindhoven.

The Daily Record reports:

Rangers have agreed a £3.5 million deal with Atalanta that should make Sam Lammers their latest summer signing.

The Light Blues have agreed a fee with the Italian side for their out-of-favour striker. The 26-year-old has spent recent seasons out at Sampdoria, Empoli and Eintracht Frankfurt and has been deemed surplus to requirements by coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

That opened the door for Rangers to make their move. The deal should be signed and sealed subject to a medical and Lammers’ return from holiday. It sees Atalanta take a huge hit on the £9 million they paid PSV Eindhoven to get him back in 2020.

Michael Beale believes he can respire Lammers’ career and is also ready to play him one back in the No. 10 role.

With the lack of goals on his record it is likely that Lammers will quickly be rebranded into a No. 10, there is no word from Ibrox on the no-brainer deal to sign Malik Tillman with attempts well underway to blame Bayern Munich for the deal falling through.

Screams “Albian Ajeti”, doesn’t it? Scores a few goals in a diddy league, moderate club from a big league scouts him and takes a punt…. doesn’t work out. Flog him on at a loss to a team from a lesser league who hope he can recapture the earlier form at a lower level. As we know to our cost, it doesn’t always work like that. Sometimes their confidence has taken such a colossal dunt that they are basically finished in their mid 20s and will be ‘doing a Frannie Jeffers’ for the rest of their career……
