Celtic have been credited with an interest in signing Rob Holding from Arsenal.
The 27-year-old started just six matches in the EPL last season which has been par for the course since he broke into the Arsenal squad after loan spells at Bolton and Bury.
Brendan Rodgers is likely to be looking at strengthening his central defence where Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers have been central to the last two seasons of success.
Beyond them Ange Postecoglou seemed strangely loathe to play Stephen Welsh while neither Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata failed to impress when they deputised for Carter-Vickers.
Postecoglou found a gem in Carter-Vickers costing £6m from Spurs after he had been out on a number of loans, over that same period Holding has been a rarely used back-up at Arsenal.
With the transfer window open there are bound to be similar stories in the weeks ahead but it looks highly unlikely that Celtic will be involved in EPL deals when there are players like Alastair Johnston and Oh Hyeon-gyu that are far better matches for a move to the hoops.

Once players enter the EPL wage bracket then they tend to be out of our reach, not unless we intend to increase the wage bracket hugely, which would remain fairly unlikely at present.
Loan deals could be an option for these higher payed players, but we seem to be steering away from that option at present also.
Nearly forgot, Holding as a player never looked to impressive on the few occasions I seen him play, so think money would be far better spent in that position on someone else and better also

Just a pity that our SFA, SPFL, Scottish Parliament, Police etc,etc aren’t ‘Holding’ them to any account !!!
