A credible Italian Twitter account has credited Enzo Maresca as being the driving force behind Manchester City’s Champions League win.

With over 200,000 followers Italian Football TV is certainly popular but a sarcastic tweet last night certainly caught the attention of Celtic fans.

Manchester City have been given little respect or credibility for last night’s Champions League triumph, after more than a decade of sports-washing they managed to win the trophy which Jock Stein lifted after less than 30 months in charge of a group of players who had probably never heard of Abu Dhabi.

Two years ago Scottish newspapers were celebrating unused substitute Billy Gilmour winning the Champions League for Chelsea.

Inter Milan have been playing in European Cup finals since the fifties, share an iconic stadium with a strip that is identified worldwide.

With the season now over any interest from Celtic in Maresca should take place this week, on the Manchester City website he is described as Assistant Manager and First Team Coach.
