Graham Potter appears to have ‘dropped out’ of the race to become the next Celtic manager according to the Daily Record.

A year ago the former Southampton and West Brom midfielder was one of the biggest prospects in management as he took Brighton to new heights playing an exciting brand of football.

That brought him to the attention of Chelsea following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel but things went badly wrong at Stamford Bridge with Potter lasting just 38 matches as Chelsea went into free-fall.

While he was reported to have picked up a £13m pay-off from Chelsea at the age of 48 he will be looking for the right opportunity to manage again and rebuild his reputation after moving from Sweden to Chelsea in just four years.

The destination for that task won’t be Celtic as the Record reports:

Two of the leading contenders for the job appear to have dropped out of the race. David Moyes was an early favourite for the post but after securing the Europa Conference League trophy in Prague, he’ll be staying at West Ham next season. And former Chelsea coach Graham Potter – who was approached by Celtic – feels his next club will be in the Premier League.

A week after Ange Postecoglou spoke to Celtic about the Spurs job a variety of names have been throwing hats into rings and appearing ‘on the radar’.

With the transfer window opening on Wednesday and the first friendly of the season just over a month away Celtic fans will be expecting progress to be made this week towards appointing a manager.

Who is giving the daily Record this confidential type of information ? If found out , this in my book is an instant dismissal offence . I don’t care how high up the food chain the person is ! Keep business of this magnitude of importance private . Especially from the daily Record ,who as we all know will use any kind of half story to belittle Celtic FC and use everything for its own agendas …I wonder who belongs to the two horses tied up in the town centre with KJ and HK etched into the saddles ? I dunno …

Editor: A little information comes out from Celtic, agents are promoting their clients everywhere, just like Trimboli with Ange, newspapers and websites are under pressure to be producing three and four updates a day from precious little.

I’m more concerned with the reports that Lawwell was at the CL final last night.
Being Chairman is virtually a hands off role from the day to day running of the business. He attends board meetings and that should be about it.
If he was there last night on Celtic business then that should set alarm bells ringing. It undermines the current Chief Executive and is a step back to what I thought we had left behind.

      Couldn’t agree more.
Lawwell’s only out for Lawwell and his master, DD. Hence the quick return.
Sickening tory, capitalist scum, they shouldn’t be anywhere near CP, NEVER!
