ITK KDS poster gives the lowdown on Celtic’s contact with Brendan Rodgers

One of the most reliable posters on Kerrydale Street has revealed details of contact between Celtic and Brendan Rodgers.

While there appears to be lots of issues to be overcome it seems that there was no outright dismissal about the former Leicester City boss replacing Ange Postecoglou.

Rodgers was mutually consented by Leicester at the start of April and took in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden later that month.

It could be a complete coincidence but Kolo Toure, a coach under Rodgers at Celtic and Leicester took in last month’s Celtic v St Mirren match with the guessing game underway over who should manage the hoops going into next season.

Some Celtic fans have very strong opinions against a possible return but equally he did leave having won seven out of seven trophies and appears to have backers within the club.

The club have spoken with BR representatives. The comment was ‘It’s fair to say there is some way to go.’ Some of the frustrations that he had last time would need to be worked through. The other worry is fan reaction.

The club are very much in a good place just now. However he is DD’s choice right now, but that there were another 4 candidates that have been spoken to or have to be spoken to. (I got the impression it may have been more but we were told no thanks after an initial enquiry).

Rodgers’ plan to use Leicester as a stepping stone never quite worked out despite periods of strong speculation.

There have been claims that he is thinking of taking a year out of football but he’ll know that there are no guarantees that clubs will be waiting to bring him on board.

Until a new manager is announced the speculation will continue with very little solid information leaking out of Celtic.
