As if losing Ange Postecoglou isn’t a big enough issue for Celtic fans to deal with supporters also have the shadow of Brendan Rodgers looming around.

The jigsaw pieces have slowly been sliding into place over the last few months with time a heeler for some over his overnight trip to Leicester City in February 2019.

On April 2 Rodgers was mutually consented from his beloved Leicester, no doubt with a severance payout accompanied by a non-disclosure agreement.

There wasn’t much if any sympathy coming from Celtic fans as Leicester headed towards The Championship.

Four weeks later and Rodgers was sitting beside Willie Haughey in an Executive Box at Hampden as Celtic triumphed in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

Should Brendan Rodgers ever be allowed to manage Celtic again

Absolutely, top coach, he is one of our own

No, nae, never. Can't trust a word he says

Following a week of solid speculation Stephen McGowan of the Daily Mail, the journalist closest to decision making at Celtic Park, floated the idea that all could be forgiven if Rodgers was to return to Celtic, blending his coaching talents alongside an ability to create fanciful stories showing him in the most positive of lights.

The video clip above is typical of Rodgers, detached from reality and prepared for anything that puts him back in the limelight on another fantastic contract.

Despite having his efforts to sign John McGinn undermined by the current Celtic chairman, despite having a millionth winger forced on him it isn’t beyond possibility to imagine that Rodgers and Peter Lawwell, two men of similar character and values, will soon be fronting things again to the #celticfamily.

Admit & apologise for his timing mistake, and we move on to greater achievements…. oh yeah, and it’ll wipe the smile off the tribute act fan’s aswell.

And we won’t give a Castlemaine XXXX if he comes back and wins the treble next season. That’s the reality. Number of fans we’d lose over this: 0. We know he’s a mercenary. What do we want, a successful coach or somebody who is a Celtic fan who would never leave? Much though we amuse ourselves with Steven Gerrard’s trophy win ratio (1 trophy from 9), it’s the same as Tommy Burns’ was. A nervous 1-0 victory over Airdrie was all that separated him from matching Liam Brady’s record.

So, bring Brendan back, if that’s the way they’re going. Forgive, don’t forget. Don’t sing songs about him being here for 10 in a row, because he won’t be. Applaud politely when he wins, because he will. And enjoy the trophy haul, because here’s something to ponder – he would be working with a significantly better squad than last time round…..

Listen it is what it is. Who else is out there? He had us playing great football last time. I called him for everything the way he left but I think Lawell had something to do with it. Ange has just done the same thing so let’s move on. Good riddance to ya “MATE”

    • Magua says:

Can’t agree Stevie. Ange has left us in a good place. I’m disappointed Ange is leaving, but that’s as far as it goes. When BR left us in 2019, I was feckin’ furious. On the basis that nothing will stop me supporting Celtic, if BR returns, then so be it.

      Hail Hail.

do you think for a minute that if spurs came in for A P half way through the season that he’d have passed em up ? of course he would not have , i’m no fan of B R never wanted him back again but if he wipes the floor with sevco that’ll do for me and many more

  • Scud Missile says:

Ted Rogers or Roy Rogers it makes no difference the BOOZE JOCKEY Lennon will be back licking LIEWELL’S arse.

  • John S says:

As far as I’m aware Ange Postecoglou is still the Celtic manager, there’s only rumour and conjecture in the media at this stage. If he does leave then there are better managers than Lennon and Rodgers around.

  • Charlie Green says:

Appoint Rodgers and be done with it. Let him start preparing for next season.

  • Duncan says:

If Rodgers comes then so be it he should get the full backing of us all.
Second time round he might actually appreciate what he has than what might come on offer from his beloved Premierhype.
Big kitty in the Bank ,a Treble winning squad at his disposal he could take us way beyond the challenge Domestically.
Europe has always been his Achilles so he may want to resolve that at Celtic a Club he claims to love.
I was as pashed off as the next guy when he bolted in the middle of the night but if he wants it’s it bad enough then I’d welcome him back no problem.
Perhaps he may even turn the clock back to his days at Fulham and be a bit more flexible in the approach as regards systems.
If Ange stays then brilliant but if he goes Brendan wouldn’t be a bad replacement.

    • Scud Missile says:

You want a RAT back in charge what so he can do another ker plunk before a season is out.
We are supposed to moving forward not back the way,and with him or the ALKIE back in charge we can only go back hhe way.

  • Paddybhoy67 says:

Dunno how that poll is 51% in favour of Rodger$ return. Apart from keyboard cabal on here, and current buns stirring it, nobody would have him back.

    • bertie basset says:

if the board appoints him and he starts getting results the fans will soon forget his past very fast
