Kyogo Furuhashi has been given the green carpet treatment on a Japanese chat show.

The striker is enjoying something of a break in Japan but was unable to resist the offer to train with Vissel Kobe ahead of Andreas Iniest’s final match for the club.

Kyogo missed out on a World Cup place at the end of last year but seems to be a major personality in Japan with regular media coverage of him, a curiosity about succeeding in a far off country and following in the footsteps of Shunsuke Nakamura.

After 34 domestic goals the next big target for Kyogo is to find the net in the Champions League, a decade ago Nakamura scored home and away against Manchester United with the Celtic Park strike projected around the world.

On Monday Celtic’s non-internationalists return for pre-season training, having played for Japan on June 20 against Peru Kyogo will have extra-time off but it wouldn’t be a big surprise if he is pictured back in training with Vssel Kobe.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

Hoping and expecting a big sum for Kyogo this summer. Im only interested in enhancing this team as quickly as possible, we do that by selliing players in their prime and reinvesting. Zero emotional attachment for this Tim.
