The English language Twitter account of Al Ittihad has as good as confirmed their signing of Jota.

Over the last couple of days there has been strong speculation that the Portuguese winger is about to quit Celtic for a highly lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.

Transfers are increasingly carried out on social media, tonight Al Ittihad have released an elaborate 90 second video featuring manager Nuno Espirito Santo dealing out a pack of cards with Jota the ace pick.

It isn’t the most subtle of hints, soon after the video was released Celtic confirmed that the transfer had been completed with Jota leaving the hoops after two eventful and successful seasons in Scotland.

Celtic look set to pick up a fee of around £25m with a significant chunk of that being passed on to Benfica who sold the winger exactly a year ago for £6.5m.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.
Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement, cheers big man.
There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same more than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying every success for Scotland's Most Successful Club.
