Celtic fans facing massive cut in Tynecastle ticket allocation

Celtic look like having just 650 fans inside Tynecastle for the October 21 clash with Hearts.

Following the example of a number of other Premiership clubs Hearts are ready to announce that they are halving the away allocation in the Roseburn Stand for all matches except the derby with Hibs.

When Celtic won the Premiership title at Tynecastle in May there was just 1,264 fans at the match but the new allocation means that a trip down Gorgie Road is effectively out of bounds.

The Daily Record reports:

Hearts are set to cut all Tynecastle away allocations to around 650, with the exception of city rivals Hibs.

Record Sport understands the Jambos are slashing the number of travelling fans inside their Gorgie ground due to bumper season ticket sales and the demand from walk up punters for home tickets. It means 10 of the 11 clubs visiting the capital next season will be given just one section of the Roseburn stand for Premiership fixtures.

A gentleman’s agreement with the Hibees means Hearts’ neighbours will be exempt from the new policy regarding away briefs. They will continue to get all 3,600 seats behind the goals, which ensures Hearts in return will still receive the entire South Stand at Easter Road when they travel across town on derby day.

But the remaining top flight fan bases face a ticket scramble when taking on Steven Naismith’s side this season, Celtic and Rangers in particular.

It seems that Hearts will rely on non-Season Ticket holders to buy up tickets in the lead up to matches for the remainder of the Roseburn Stand.

If the team is doing well that shouldn’t be a problem but if Hearts are struggling paying £35 for a Saturday lunchtime kick-off in a televised game against Celtic has less appeal.

As it stands Livingston is the only SPFL club that gives Celtic more than 4,000 tickets with three stands handed over at Almondvale.

Hibs and Ross County away allocations remains virtually unchanged but other than that every other Premiership club has been cutting back on their ticket allocation to Celtic fans in recent seasons.

Loathsome, spiteful small-time club. Always were.

    Hope they get relegated.

    And then go bankrupt.
