Feyenoord boss Arnie slot is delighted to be picking up a £6m fee for Danillo.

The Brazilian forward joined Feyenoord last summer as a free agent after Ajax let his contract run down. Last season he scored 10 goals from 1,329 minutes in the Eredivisie, over 34 appearances that worked out at 39 minutes per appearance.

In his final season at Ibrox Danilo played just 272 minutes for Ajax over 13 matches while contributing two goals.

Those stats and some heart-to-heart chats with Micky Beale have built the 24-year-old into some sort of superstar with even the Daily Record admitting that Danilo’s stats aren’t anything to get excited about.

The Glasgow based publisher reports:

The last game he started for the Rotterdam side was in a 2-1 win against Volendam in March and he was then used off the bench for 12 games in a row at the end of his time at the club in the Netherlands. And Slot has put a brave face on his departure to Glasgow while acknowledging his role in their Eredivisie triumph.

He pointed out: “I do not know if ‘leave’ is the right word for him, because we did not loan him out or give him away.

“For Danilo, we got a good transfer fee. This is a player who was playing less and less in the second half of the season. So then it is always a consideration whether that player can stay in that role for another season or whether he has a problem with that.

“If a club comes along, then that’s an interesting opportunity for him. For us, we were only going to be interested in selling him if there was a transfer fee that did justice to his qualities. And of course from my side, you then ask if you can reinvest that, because his contribution to the title was very big.”

It looks unlikely that Danilo will be signed in time to play against Hofenheim tomorrow which means that his debut will be on the plastic pitch at Rugby Park a week tomorrow before the Champions League qualifier at home to Genk or Servette on August 9.

    You know the score

Undisclosed fee with the laptop loyal given carte blanche to lie about how much they paid

  • Bob (original) says:

From those stats. he’s played 102 games for 3 senior clubs, scoring 40 goals.

A goal about every 2.5 games – which isn’t prolific, but ‘OK’ and could do better

    in the SPL?

He’s 24, so could be developed further by Beale.

And, unlike other signings, Danilo is arriving as a league title winner from Feyenoord.

I don’t rate Beale’s other signings, but this guy looks to have potential?

[And just because he’s Brazilian, the SMSM will have him ‘valued’ at £20M+

after his first sevco goal. 🙂 ]

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Yep Bob – That He’s Brazilian and goin to Sevco means that The SMSM will ‘wax’ lyrical about him…

In fact it must all be Brazilians that Sevco buy going by the ‘waxing’ that is reported to me by The Celtic Blogs like this very fine one –

Thank goodness that I haven’t put one thin dime towards them in two decades now…

Folks that are starting out supporting Celtic now are so so lucky that they don’t have to buy these vomit inducing rags and can find out their Hoops information thru that such source –

We must all play our part in stopping the last few ‘old habits die hard’ type Celtic fans from supporting The SMSM print media financially either through purchase or online !

  • Scud Missile says:

Rumours have it already that the Saudi clubs are looking at Danilio and he has still to show up at the BIGOT DOME.
No doubt it will be bids of £30 million + add ons.

  • Scud Missile says:

Lol you only have to mention sevco being linked with a player and it triggers a 10% sell on clause should the player be sold without sevco’s say so.

  • Captain Swing says:

So, he’ll be something between Pele and Derk Boerrigter, then? While the pre-season results and performances have been highly amusing and surely a foretaste of their European games, we have to face that they’ll still be in close contention this season, because the ten other teams they will face in the SPFL are so crap that one of the European qualifying sides just lost to a team from Andorra – a “country” which is just a ski resort with a population the size of Paisley, FFS.

And sorry for bringing up Derk Boerrigter. I think we are hereby all given a permission slip for a couple of stiff drinks to try and forget that sorry episode again…. Chin chin.

    • John Copeland says:

Didn’t Phil Mac mention that Danilo’ s fee will be paid in 8 installments the other day ? Feyenoord were obviously praying to get rid of the bench warmer from the wage bill ,then along comes their saviour ! I can’t wait for the SMSM forensic scrutiny of the transfer fee and wages ? I’ll bet there is copious amounts of back slapping and high fives continuing on inside the Dutch club’s boardroom … More Dom Perignon Willy ?

  • Johnno says:

As expected another summer of turd polishing from the scum yet again, but without any idea on how an increased wage bill is going to be paid for.

Everything gambled upon gaining CL and confetti required for the seasons failure yet again awaits.

Course the media will be dressing these wasters up to be worthy of Saudi money, yet these ongoing movie remains upon constant repeat and ever so boring now with nothing but the failure of an ending in sight.

Expecting a mutany within the scum camp with mole face not being able to keep the sinking ship floating, and will be thrown overboard as an early Christmas present for ourselves.

We continue to go about our business in a very structured manner, nothing the scum will never be able to do so.

Another glorious season awaits for Celtic, even if it includes having to wear ear muffs from the amount of bullshit that going to spouted yet again from the scum cheerleaders

“…we were only going to be interested in selling him…”
