Barry Ferguson has warned Micky Beale’s Revolutionaries that they have 10 minutes to win over the angry bears.

Every week the former Alloa boss amuses Daily Record readers with tales of the incredibly high standards at Ibrox, how he pyoor loves the club and spends every waking moment striving to win trophies and stoap Selik.

No reader can be left doubting how staunch Barry is even though he was twice transferred away from Rangers.

Watching the Tribute Act constantly faltering has been a painful experience for the Record columnist, almost without fail it will result in another trophy party at Celtic Park where 17 of the last 21 domestic honours have ended up.

Over the last couple of weeks the Record has been whipping their readers into a frenzy over signing free agents and relegated strikers- tragically the fans have been treated to three dismal performances in a week.

Hopes that a gradual improvement would be seen were knocked on the head by a 3-1 defeat at home to Olympiakos on Wednesday night.

If anything the team is going backwards with a lack of purpose and shape matched by questionable fitness. When you hand James Tavernier the armband you are hardly investing in inspiration.

Putting as brave a face as possible on the dismal pre-season performances and results, Fergie told Daily Record readers

For the time being, I’ll reserve judgment on this summer’s new arrivals even if a few of them might already be scratching their heads and wondering why there’s been such a disgruntled reaction to a couple of home defeats in pre-season friendlies.

Welcome to Rangers boys. You’ll never have experienced expectation and pressure like this at any other club. You probably never will again. So produce the goods and make the most of it because that’s what life at this club is all about. And it brings the best out of proper football players.

Just ask Borna Barisic and John Lundstram who have been around here long enough to know how it works but who are now getting it in the neck because they’ve not quite been up to speed. There are now questions being asked about whether or not they should be moved out this summer as both are entering into the final years of their contracts.

They’ll have to decide now if they want to sign new deals to stay and fight for a place in the team. Or if it’s starting to feel as if their time here is up.

But given these guys were an integral part of the team that reached a European final just two years ago, it’s a clear sign to the new players of the standards that will be demanded of them now they’re here in Glasgow.

Yes, it might seem like a huge overreaction but that’s the way the big ball bounces up here and it’s your job to get used to it. Quick.

Despite that emotion charged cry from Ferguson, Tavernier has not only survived winning just two trophies in eight seasons but been inducted into the Hall of Fame!

The prospects of selling Barisic and Lundstram look as likely as landing huge fees for Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent. If no club will match or better the current salaries the player will just sit tight and hoover up every last salary payment, Morelos is currently clubless in Colombia with one medal to show for six years at Ibrox.

Last season Olympiacos finished third in the Greek League, their first domestic match is on August 18, 13 days after Beale’s side take on Kilmarnock.

NB The European final was 14 months ago, not two years.

I watched them against Olympiakos for a laugh, Joe. They were beyond awful. It looked as though they were trying to play 4-2-1-3. The gaps in midfield were massive, the defence was terrible and you could see why their new strikers were relegated. Really looking forward to the new season and Beale getting his jotters in January.

They may be mince but we’ve already seen how Scotias MIBs
are gearing up to help with any deficiencies.
Tav-Pen could be in for a record breaking Season.
They need that automatic qualification for CL Group stages next Season.
More so if they fail to qualify for the ‘Groups’ this Season.
      VARMAN might be their POTY.

the pressure brings out the best in proper football payers ? so how many proper football players are at ibrox then ?. bazza the bams bam .

  • John L says:

I would have liked to have seen the media headlines if we got beat 3_1 at home to a team that’s behind us in their preparation. The tribute act gets such an easy ride from that lot, it makes me sick. If we win the first game at their midden, it’s season over. Ha Ha

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Given that I don’t pay towards them John L then it doesn’t make me sick but aye, I do note what they write thru blogs like this one and it’s just gonna get worse and worse and worse…

My absolute drug fix is seeing their circulation figures circulating the decomposing newspaper graveyard gates and getting more and more excited as their inevitable death gets closer –

I also take great pleasure in ‘advising’ any Hoops fans that I catch buying them to ‘immediately desist’ – An odd one resists my wise counsel and advice – but again it’s been a beautiful feeling embarrassing these said rag purchasers in Celtic colours !

Editor: May 2023 Record circulation now below 60,000, just a case of when it goes below 50,000. Sunday Mail sales falling even faster.

    Fed up seeing it

  • Bob (original) says:

    Karma says…

Beale will get his ragtag jumble of players to do just enough in the opening SPL games,

and in their first 2 CL qualifying games.

But, sevco is then drawn against Marseille in the CL play-off tie.

sevco fails to overcome the French team and loses out on that desperately

    needed CL Group Stage money.

And, to make it doubly painful for the foaming bears: they are punted out by the

team that had ‘cheated’ the original Rangers out of a Big Cup 30 years ago!

[Well, in their heads anyway. 🙂 ]
