Celtic fans got their first glimpse of life under Brendan Rodgers yesterday as the club released a brief video of the training match against Portimonense.

The two sides had played out a goal-less draw on Wednesday evening but in Saturday’s match Celtic appeared far stronger than their local opponents.

In truth there wasn’t really much difference to last season’s style of play with forwards pressing opponents down with a concentration of play pushing down both flanks followed by quick balls into the penalty box.

From the footage above the players all looked sharp, in terms of fitness and thought with fast passing proving too much for Portimonense who have friendlies against Porto and Sporting Lisbon before the end of this month.

The teamlines for the match haven’t been published but one fact that won’t go un-noticed is that Rodgers may have found a penalty taker in Reo Hatate while Joe Hart saved a spot kick at the other end of the park.
