Daniel Kelly got a shout out from Brendan Rodgers in the brief training ground clip released by Celtic from Lennoxtown today.
With the international contingent enjoying the last few days of their holidays a number of younger players are training with the first team under the watch of the newish manager.
Rocco Vata and Ben Summer were given up a couple of substitute appearances towards the end of last season but the leap from the Academy to the first team seems to be getting more difficult with each passing year.
1 minute 10 seconds for the shout out
Kelly, a central midfielder, captained the Celtic B team away to Fraserburgh on Saturday and caught the eye in last season’s SFA Youth Cup Final victory at Hampden.
While many prospects are tempted south of the border or off to Germany as soon as they turn 16 Kelly signed a three year professional contract in March 2022.
Next week Celtic step up their pre-season preparations with a training trip to Portugal which includes two matches against Portimonense.
With a squad of 30 likely there could be a place for some of the emerging talents who’ll be involved in the UEFA Young League in the autumn.
