Celtic appear to be playing two friendly matches against Portuguese side Portimonense during next week’s training camp.
Brendan Rodgers will have his squad reinforced by the return of internationalists such as Callum McGregor, Carl Starfelt and Greg Taylor after this week’s work at Lennoxtown.
According to the Soccerway website Portimonense have got two friendly matches lined up against Celtic on July 12 and 15. According to the Portimonese website the first friendly kicks off at 5pm.
Last season Portimonense finished in 15th place in the 18 team Portuguese League.
The matches could well be played Behind Closed Doors but is seems that Rodgers would like to see his players in action before the two match trip to Japan that starts on July 19 against Yokohama F Marinos.
Portimao is on the south coast of Portugal with the Estádio Municipal de Portimão stadium holding just under 10,000 fans but both matches against Celtic will be played at Quinta do Lago, with a 5pm kick-off for the Wednesday game followed by 11am on Saturday July 15. Quinta do Lago is 17kn west of Faro Airport.

NOT FOR PUBLICATION : Off topic Joe…but…do you fancy doing a piece on the upcoming SPFL fixture list?
Once again we are shafted and disadvantaged…while Sevco are the complete opposite.
The home and away proposals are completely biased ,IMO, and need addressed.
I’ve written to the Club on this subject twice before…and did not even receive the courtesy of a reply.
In my opinion the Club should be all over this…and voicing its protests…but it will be left up to Bloggers like yourself, as the Club seems unwilling to rock the boat on anything.
Just a thought for you.
