Callum McGregor has opened up on the steely determination behind Brendan Rodgers’ return to Celtic.

The club captain visited the in-coming boss at his holiday home in Mallorca before the announcement that the Irishman was returning to Celtic.

Under the Balearic sun the two men discussed a number of areas and ideas but under working conditions on the training ground the new boss is extremely driven.

Rodgers left Celtic in February 2019 with a record of seven trophies out of seven, that legacy is now on the line unless he can deliver further success.

McGregor has experienced two very different regimes since Rodgers left but is fully in tune with the ways of the former Leicester City boss.

Speaking to the Daily Record, McGregor said:

Even when I spoke to him early doors, I could see it in his eyes and you can hear it in his voice. I have always said that when people have a point to prove in football then that can be really dangerous because you get a different level of workrate and intensity.

You push the guys and they push you and you can see that in him. He’s determined to do well, he’s determined to give the club success and that’s married by every single person within our dressing room. We are really together and we want to deliver success.

That’s where we are judged, it’s always about success and when he’s come back this time, there’s no standing on ceremony in terms of what happened the last time he was here. He’s here to win and you can see that in terms of how he drives the boys.

Tomorrow night, in the James Forrest Testimonial Match Celtic fans will get a look at Rodgers II with most of the squad expected to get 45 minutes to impress ahead of the SPFL opener on Saturday against Ross County.

Yesterday’s article from Spew Heevins and today’s article from Keith THE BOOZE JOCKEY Jackass Jackson are both a disgrace to the trade journalists.
Both articles look as if they have been penned by a 16 year old apprentice cutting their teeth on the school newsletter.
For both of those 2 chancers and that’s being kind to them using that word should be sacked for producing that CRAP.
The editor of the daily sevco is not any better for approving this pish, they should be embarrassed to hand that work over for approval, nickel&dime and LAZY journalists at their best, and as I keep saying these 2 PONCES are taking a coin for writing that DROSS,so who failed the gig not to get it?

They certainly won’t take my coin Scud ! – Well not any more and certainly not for the last two decades, but they do need to have their crayon brain level written evil exposed for sure…

Well, it was once said that even the Butler has something to prove! So I don’t read a lot into that!
Love is never as good the second time around. But you’d have to be
    “Married”
to realise that! So, I don’t read much into that either!
A bit like the last time, de javu, I suppose, you could say that success is Celtic’s to throw away. But, wait a minute, we’ve been there as well, not so long ago, with dreams evaporating quicker than the morning dew in the San Francisco summer morning sunshine!
Time will tell I suppose. But then, it always does!
