BBC Scotland have highlighted the special atmosphere of Ibrox in an interview with Jack Butland.
That was the special atmosphere that was preceded by a Tifo tribute to William Poole, the leader of The Brewery Boys, an anti Catholic and anti-Irish Manhattan gang of the 1800s. His connection to either Ibrox club hasn’t previously been revealed.
Butland would have very little knowledge of the content of the pre-match display although he might have been puzzled by the NO SURRENDER OR YOU’LL DIE banner directly behind his goal.
What isn’t up for debate is that BBC Scotland were well aware of what they were highlighting and publishing.
Whoever was editing the Butland interview would know that in 2019 UEFA twice imposed sanctions on Ibrox for racist actions including a partial stand closure.
It would have been easy to edit out the atmosphere comments and focus on what Butland had to say about the match which his side drew 2-2.
The reporter/video editor opted to highlight the details about the atmosphere with his line manager approving it for publication.
All through the match there was the usual background chants of intolerance from the home supporters which had Kenny Macintyre, Steven Thompson and Neil McCann drooling over the atmosphere during Radio Scotland’s coverage of the match.

There is a journalist across the water with connections to this blog and the Celtic blog who could use his journalistic instincts and flag this up with the European football authorities,let’s see if he uses his press pass privileges to chase it up.
As for the BBC they are not worth the publicity.
The clue is in the first “B”.
The journalist across the water has contacted uefa quite a few times regarding both ibrox clubs.
The game was on BT/TNT Sports channel did they mention any of this sectarian stuff throughout or after the game,if they ignored it and never addressed it then don’t just throw the mud at the BBC because BT/TNT should have been apologising to viewers regarding what was being promoted and witnessed,so don’t be selective in picking out the BBC.
None – Not one – of these broadcasters will EVER flag up sectarian behaviours at Liebrox Scud…
That football club (Sevco) runs all broadcast media, print media, police authority, council authority, the lot – to suit their own ends…
I don’t subscribe to any of them, and would only listen to Clyde or Radio Scotland after a Sevco loss especially to Celtic to truly enjoy their pain –
I really HATE the country of my birth (Scotland) these days – I’m off to The Island of Ireland next week on holiday and now that I’m a single pringle once again, I hope I meet a good Celtic Ghirl and emigrate to The Emerald Isle and follow and enjoy the honesty of The GAA in the County I’d settle in !
And to the GLOATING goes on this time from Graeme Young at the daily sevco apparently PSV got a dul yin from sevco last night with sevco keeping quiet PSV’s £37 million player,and it will now cause some serious sleepless nights ahead for the PSV manager.
Here’s hoping sevco get a right good SCUDDING next week in that return leg,then we will see what Young and his lot have to write about then.
I most certainly won’t see or pay Young and his lot will write about them Scud – but even if Eindhoven prevail they’ll put a positive slant on it for Sevco come what may !

Over here in Ireland the Republics state broadcaster covered the game from the Crumbledome last night. I shit you not. As for TNT the clowns keep sending me ads on how to upgrade my Discovery+ subscription. Ain’t happening. Unlike the BBC( Bluenose Broadcasting Cabal) Sevco I can cancel Discovery+ and not get a knock on the door from a private firm enforcing a state tax. Defund and disband it.
