Chris Sutton has set out the groundwork for next week’s Glasgow Derby.

The former Celtic striker is detested by the Ibrox support with that feeling going straight to the top of the company hierarchy.

In September 2021 BT Sport were refused permission to employ Sutton at Ibrox, after briefly relocating to Celtic Park BT caved in and returned to Ibrox with an understanding that Sutton wouldn’t be involved.

This season Sutton has switched from BT Sport to Sky Sports where he is a key figure in their SPFL coverage.

Sutton has been on duty at Celtic Park, Rugby Park and Pittodrie in Sky’s coverage of the season to date, today they’ll be in Dingwall where Sutton is expected to be on duty for the lunchtime kick-off.

While others prefer to tone down and move away from controversy Sutton has

some choice words to say about Micky Beale’s Revolution! Even claiming that they are worse than last season’s flops.

In the Record Sutton writes:

Brendan Rodgers had to accept reality when he admitted this week his Celtic squad is weaker than last season. But there are some things he can be positive about. Like the fact Rangers are worse as well.

Rodgers has a week to fix it and money in the bank – while at Ibrox they’ll need to offload players if they are to strengthen further. I haven’t been too impressed with the new-look Rangers as yet and although they got a result against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League play-off first leg, I’m not entirely sure how. The Dutch side played them off the park and must have been wondering how the heck that happened.

Via their army of media watchers those comments will have reached Micky Beale before he tucked in to his full fry breakfast this morning.

The former Charlton youth team star has already shown how sensitive he is to Sutton’s comments, it will be a surprise of he doesn’t fire back at the Sky pundit in some form today.

SUTTON ON THE BUTTON ! (as always)…

I’d rather it wasn’t in The Rancid Record but thanks Video Celts for flagging it up anyway…

They only surprise is that their editor let him have a mild (but hopefully proven truth) about Sevco published –

The fun really starts next week to see if Sutton is on duty at the BIGOT DOME or if he and Sky both CRASH their bottle and take a POWDER,my money is on the latter.

  • Captain Swing says:

Sky can take Neville to Anfield and Carragher to Old Trafford. We give McCoist a bit of verbals when he’s at CP but never more…. only one place are they ‘unable to guarantee’ someone’s safety.

Perhaps they could place some form of ‘net’ around the media representatives for their sadfety…. Or maybe they should, y’know, cease indulging and even encouraging the worst elements of their following?

  • Terence Nova says:

I’ve just seen a copy of an up and coming Statement from Celtic FC….Its in response to angry Celtic fans wanting answers on a variety of unacceptable situations which have been allowed to go unchallenged this year…The Statement reads….NO COMMENT.

Maybe PSV just chucked in the serviette?!
