There’s enough numbers there- Rodgers makes worrying strikers comment

Brendan Rodgers believes that there are enough numbers already in his Celtic squad to cover his striking needs.

Kyogo Furuhashi is out on his own as first choice striker but with Oh Hyeon-gyu currently injured there doesn’t appear to be many options, especially as Daizen Maeda is the only recognised left winger.

At the peak of his powers first time around Rodgers could choose between Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths to play up front with Odsonne Edouard emerging and taking every chance he could get to impress.

It seems that Maeda is Rodgers’ third choice striker which means that on days like yesterday a switch of striker means that a very right footed substitute in Yang Hyun jun has to find his feet on the other side of the park.

Speaking to the Daily Mail about striking options before yesterday’s defeat at Kilmarnock, Rodgers said:

You have to be careful I think, because you can have too many. I’d seen a lot of Daizen, and really liked the look of him as a striker. There is a reason he plays as a central striker for Japan, and over the course of pre-season he was excellent.

Obviously, we’ve got Oh as well and Kyogo, but there are only so many you can keep happy. Normally, strikers want to play. So, when Oh is fit, and we’ve got Kyogo and then Daizen as a possibility, there’s enough numbers there.

Unless yesterday’s defeat has forced a change of attitude it looks like Rodgers will go into the Champions League with his current striking options.

Oh dear looks like an action replay of the season that went BOOM when going for 10 in a row, checkout the lowest common denominator Mr McVittie is back with his biscuit tin mentality.
Roy has been put in his place but rather than sit back and watch it all crumble around him he will be gone before Christmas time this has all the hallmarks of Liz Truss scenario when a lettuce will last longer than Roy.
As quoted at the top of comment this is Groundhog Day from when we had been going for 10 in a row season only to end up winning the middle of a doughnut Cup.

If you are a player who has just played in a Treble winning team,

and a new manager comes in to change how you play,

I could see how you might be a bit annoyed?

Why change a winning formula – especially when the squad has only lost 2 regular

    starters in Jota and Starfelt?

Despite bringing in young prospects, BR hasn’t stamped his mark on the team – yet.

Maybe a couple of experienced players brought in as regular starters will help him

achieve that – and maybe win over any doubting players [and supporters?]

I’d go for Shankland who would score for in a Celtic team…
