After two seasons, 87 appearances and five winners medals Carl Starfelt has posted his Farewell to Celtic on Instagram.

One match into the new season the defender moved to Celta Vigo with Gustaf Lagerbielke taking his place and number in the Celtic squad.

For whatever reasons Starfelt never quite hit it off with the Celtic support but far more importantly his partnership in defence with Cameron Carter-Vickers was critical to Celtic’s success under Ange Postecoglou.

Incredibly that duo never lost a domestic match over 90 minutes although their partnership was less frequent in the second season due to injury issues.

In their last appearance together, in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden, another clean sweep was notched up as a goal from Jota secured Celtic’s place in the final.

I want to thank everyone in and around Celtic for these two season, and an extra thanks to all the fans, your passion is what makes this club so special.

I leave a lot richer in friendships, trophy’s, experiences and uncountable memories i will never forget.
I am always going to be grateful for my time here.

Celtic FC, what a club.

Starfelt made his last Celtic appearance in the SPFL opener at home to Ross County, coming off the bench to replace Maik Nawrocki.

Now his focus switches to all matters La Liga with Celta visiting Real Sociedad on Saturday after starting the season with a 2-0 defeat at home from Osasuna.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

STARFELT – Perhaps not quite a super Star, but his absence could be Felt ! (But hopefully not)…

And while I’m all for Celtic minded Bhoys and Ghirls hooking up with each other, I hope Brendan keeps The Lhads and The Lhassies at The Parkhead Gates to avoid a repeat of this happening again…

Does anybody know what transfer fee Celtic got for him please !
