Celtic coach calls off exit option

Darren O’Dea has ruled himself out of taking over from Billy Dodds as manager of Inverness Caley Thistle.

Last week Celtic gave the Championship side permission to speak to their coach but it has emerged that O’Dea will be staying with the Celtic B side.

No reason has been given for the decision with Scott Brown and Callum Davidson linked with the vacancy over the weekend.

The Sun reports:

DARREN O’DEA has pulled out of the running to be the next Inverness boss.

The Celtic B coach had been given permission to speak to Caley Thistle chiefs over the gig.

But O’Dea has opted against pursuing the opportunity any further and will stay at Celtic after pulling out of the interview process.

The 36-year-old has decided the job is not for him after Caley Thistle made an initial approach.

O’Dea gave up playing at the end of the 2018/19 season to take up a coaching role at Motherwell but gave that up after a couple of months to move to Celtic where he worked initially with the u-18 side.

When Celtic joined the Lowland League in 2020/21 he moved up to work alongside Tommy McIntyre for a season and is now in tandem with Stephen McManus at that level.

Clearly the Irishman will have ambitions to move out to manage on his own at some stage but uprooting himself in mid-season to a club with one point from six matches would be highly risky.

On Saturday Celtic’s B team take on Stirling University followed by a UEFA Youth League match at home to Lazio.

Scott Brown won’t touch the job with Inverness if the sevco supporting chairman is still in charge up there.
Remember Inverness are one of only 2 klubs in Scotland still seriously licking the arse of the new klub from ibrox.

That guy was the managing director / chief executive Scud – A guy called Scott Gardiner who absolutely hates Celtic and openly showed it in his role at Dundee (and not sure but was he at Hearts as well) –

He was really vocal on radio and tv in declaring that season 2019/20 be declared null and void so that Celtic couldn’t be declared champions…

Fortunately the other clubs and therefore Doncaster seen sense and awarded the title to Celtic –

I don’t understand why good ‘family type’ clubs like Inverness Caley Thistle take on reptiles like Gardiner – And it could well be their undoing –

I’m not sure if he’s still there then that’s probably the reason Darren O’ Dea told them to GTF !

As for Martinjail for the sevco job that ain’t never going to happen now. The performance of the DROSS he manages at the weekend there just proved he hasn’t got what it takes to take on Celtic.
11 men against 10 after 28 minutes of a game and gets a severe SCUDDING 3-0 at home,he will be lucky to see out the season at Livi, and probably won’t manage in the top flight again.

Now that Darren O’ Dea has told Inverness Caley Thistle to GTF with their managers job offer…

What about a role at The mighty Clachnacuddin FC Darren –

The best club in Inverness by a mile and the most beautiful of Gaelic names as well !
