It was the perfect storm- the crunch moment in Rotterdam that floored Celtic

Joe Hart has described Feyenoord’s opening goal against Celtic as the perfect storm.

It was a sickening blow for Brendan Rodgers’ side as they reached the 45 minute mark on level terms then trudged off at half time trailing to a goal from Calvin Stengs.

As Celtic trooped off dejected the home side were handed a massive boost after an unconvincing first half in which neither side was able to take control.

The second half was a very different story as Celtic went down to nine men, conceded a penalty which Hart saved before escaping with just a 2-0 defeat when it could have been a few more as the visitors clung on to respectability.

Stengs free kick was the turning point in the match as a poorly performing wall allowed a decent but not incredible shot to hit the target, out of reach for Hart.

The former England goalkeeper told The Sun:

There were a few factors at the free-kick but I’ll look at my position.  As the keeper I want to be saving those.

The ball skipped up, it was curling away. A guy ran across Kyogo in the wall and it affected him.

It was a perfect storm for them and it went in. I’ll look at myself, I always do that because I want to save everything.

At Champions League level, you have to be honest. With any free-kick you have to wait until it goes over the wall because it can skip off a shoulder but it cuts down your reaction time.

I’m not making excuses, that’s facts. That’s the level we’re at and I didn’t manage to get across to it.

I’m never going to give up ever. Whether I could or couldn’t save the first goal it makes no difference to me.

With Lagerbielke suspended for the visit of Lazio Celtic will have to get Nat Phillips quickly upto speed or they will face the Italian side with a central defensive pairing of Liam Scales and Tomoki Iwata.

All fur coat and no knickers. No point BRAGGING about having £72 million in the BANK and doing JACKSHIT with it,unless splitting it between your mates on the board for BIG BRUCEY BONUSES.
LIEWELL the James Hunt is laughing all the way to the BANK with your money and your all sitting back and allowing it to happen.
Him and the other PONCES at the club won’t budge one bit because 60,000 DAFTIES keep showing up every week encouraging the CHISLING.
To think we laugh at sevco for being CONNED and he here we have our very own ripping fans of as well.
As long you all keep turning up and parting with your cash the CHISLING will continue happen.
LIEWELL and Co can see they are getting away with it so no need to purchase big money signings just stick with the nickel&dime players for a nickel&dime team with no ambitions other than to make money and FLEECE for it.
As I said previously the fans play their part in all of this as they keep turning up and give their cash to FATSO LIEWELL and the other GREEDY swear words on the board,so fans really do need to stop complaining,or get the protests done PRONTO,firstly by staying away from games.
Hit the James Hunts in the pocket as money is all they understand.

Spot on Scud,I’ve been saying this for weeks now ,in fact since liewell came back in and took over the club again, while his big Tory mate Desmond farts about on golf courses,I genuinely thought that when Rodgers agreed to come back it would have been on his terms ,ie transfer budgets and targets but alas he is just another patsy ,like Lennon was , liewell and desmond have Rodgers eating out their hands, till that board goes Celtic will continue to be slaughtered at every level in Euro competitions, even the Huns got a final just 2 years ago ,I think we’ve won two ties in about 15 years , totally embarrassing, that’s why the English refer to spl as a Mickey mouse league.

I love Big Joe and hugely respect his honesty and bravery BUT he was far too far to his right at the free kick and we paid the price. He helped exonerate himself by saving the never shoulda been given penalty. The ref was a complete fukkin idiot who ‘bought’ everything Feyenoord ‘sold’ him. A total fukkin clown who should never ref again as long as he lives and right now I hope that’s not very long!!!!!
Oh and BTW, I’ve been vociferous here and elsewhere about getting in a ‘keeper in to challenge Big Joe since the end of last season and throughout the transfer window but it looks like Lawwell got his way, AGAIN. FFS Celtic, stop it, you’re dong my fukkin head in.

We were a man down as soon as Hatate took the field. I remember he scored a couple of great goals in earlier games and then talked of going to the EPl. Since then he hasn’t kicked a ball anytime he has played and has refused a new contract. yet Rodgers picked him. For anyone who has access to the video of the game i would ask you to watch and concemtrate on Hatate and it seems he completed one pass, a two yarder to MacGregor. He ran about like a schoolboy non-stop to no avail and his shot on goal was emabarrasingly weak. It took Rodgers and Kennedy 58 minutes to see it.
Joe Hart is a lovely guy but maybe a “bit long in the tooth” for this level but Rodgers won’t be told as we found out with his insistence in playing Efe Ambrose until the Red Imps disaster in his first stint.
Lastly, If we are going to play this football we need a big target man.
