Stoke City and PAOK are reported to be battling it out to sign Sead Haksabanovic.

The winger appears to be well down the pecking order under Brendan Rodgers and took to Instagram at the weekend to announce his unhappiness.

With Luis Palma the third winger to be signed during the current Transfer Window it doesn’t look like Haksabanovic’s playing time at Celtic is about to be boosted.

The highly reliable Giannis Chorianopoulos of Sporttime in Greece broke the news about PAOK agreeing terms with the out of favour winger but The Sun had a fresh option soon after:

Now Team Talk claim that Stoke City are poised to step in instead, with former Hamilton boss Alex Neil an admirer of the Montenegrin.

Montenegro international Haksabanovic only signed a FIVE-YEAR deal when he joined from Rubin Kazan 12 months ago.

He made 40 appearances in all competitions as the Hoops secured the domestic treble last season, but he was largely used as a substitute and made just 13 starts.

Stoke also had an interest in Luis Palma, who has since completed his loan move to Celtic.

Haksabanovic hinted over the weekend that an exit looked likely.

After a year of hinting in flashes what he could do it would seem sensible if Celtic cut their ties with a permanent deal preferred to going out on loan.

The sale of Jota to Al Ittihad should have given Haksabanovic a real opportunity at Celtic but it appears that Brendan Rodgers wasn’t convinced during pre-season training and matches.

When the former Rubin Kazan winger failed to make the 20 man matchday squad for the SPFL opener at home to Ross County it seemed clear that he wasn’t likely to feature with a move today looking in the interests of all parties.
