Alistair Johnston believes that Matt O’Riley is a £50m plus player.
The midfielder has been the centre of attention since his staring role for Celtic in the 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid.
Against one of Europe’s elite clubs, who have beaten Real Madrid 3-1 this season O’Riley was as impressive as anyone else on the park.
It is a picture of incredible development, just two years ago the midfielder was trying to find his feet at MK Dons in League One, in two years time its not ridiculous to suggest that O’Riley will be playing alongside rather than against the players assembled by Diego Simeone.
Johnston only joined Celtic in January but wasn’t holding back when he saw transfer specialist Romano speculating on the value of his team-mate.
There will be a level of expectation on O’Riley when Celtic travel to Madrid to take on Atletico on November 7, a year after he had two penalties awarded against him in the Bernabeu.
Whether he will be with Celtic for another European campaign next season is open to question but if Johnston is involved in transfer negotiations Brendan Rodgers should be boosted by a massive warchest.

Then the board can cream themselves that that they have broken through the barrier of having over £100 million in the bank…
But we might still go outta The League Cup to the likes of Kilmarnock and the likes of Cluj might stop us getting to The Champions League Groups !

Look, waken up! Desmond is effectively the Club owner. The Club is his property.
If he wants to take a cupla million out of the Club, he can do it any time he wants to. Who is to stop him? Nobody!
What he leaves behind is a dross team on the park. And an accountant with a magic wand who makes these things happen for him.
That is how he earns his cash!
