Sky Sports went overboard into the Blue Room as they covered the annual unveiling of the new Messiah from Ibrox today.

Mark Benstead was granted access to what used to be called the Trophy Room as he rattled off the usual cliches trying to give the Tribute Act the honours of the club that died of shame in 2012 after Her Majesty refused a CVA for the millions owed.

The Blue Room was Benstead’s backdrop as he delivered in revered tones about the huge honour bestowed on Philippe Clement using a script similar to that used to drool over Micky Beale last year and Giovanni van Bronckhorst in 2021.

Showing no details of trophies, ceramics or bikes of the seventies it was off into the corridor, pausing at a painting of Graeme Souness who found Frank Lampard a better candidate for the job than the dull Belgian.

From there it was into a cosy chat with Josh Barrie from the Rangers Review which included the classic question of:

There was a big recruitment drive in the summer and it’s not quite paid off yet.

You could say that 15 million times and it would still be accurate.

All through the summer Barrie and the team at the Rangers Review delivered exciting profiles and previews of duds like Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers, Jose Cifuentes and Danilo and explaining the brilliant thinking of Beale to have secured them on long term contracts.

James Tavernier will continue as captain with Steve Davis and Alex Rae on the coaching staff.

Did you notice that there is still no need to employ a trophy cleaner person inside the hallowed room ? There’s still nothing in there to clean would be the obvious answer , I suppose ……The clocks go back at the end of the month and that means using up more electricity as the days grow shorter . Another confetti sale methinks ?

I was visiting family when The Sheep strolled to three points v Sevco at Liebrox a few weeks ago…

They have the full Sky monty (Sly Sky Sports apart) as they’re telly fans –

They get Channel 409 which is the video printer and ‘around the grounds’ and I watched in the lounge on a high After Motherwell – And on a serious high I was…

As the goals rained in for Aberdeen it made for a beautiful day indeed – but not for that guy you mention called Mark Bentstead –

As each goal went in he looked like he’d had a family member wiped out…

He must be a Sevco fan –

Or perhaps he was terrified that if he didn’t look broken hearted and being surrounded by really rabid and Toxic Huns that day that they’d target him…

I don’t think they (Sky) would’ve sent him to Liebrox if he wasn’t a Sevco fan –

Thank Fcuk that I haven’t funded that Sly mob for two decades now…

    Another good life decision !!!
