After a week of speculation, claims and counter claims it has been confirmed tonight that the Green Brigade won’t be getting an allocation of tickets for away matches.

Actions away to Feyenoord and Motherwell has triggered the action with speculation that Season Tickets could also be revoked denying entry to Celtic Park.

There is nothing on the Celtic website or on the club’s social media platforms but a club spokesman told The Sun:

As the group in question has been informed in writing, this decision to suspend access to away tickets relates to very clear and extremely serious unsafe and unacceptable behaviour at recent away matches, including those against Feyenoord and Motherwell.

As an example, at Feyenoord, widespread and unsafe use of pyrotechnics resulted in another fine for the club from Uefa.

Investigations are ongoing in relation to unsafe behaviour at Motherwell, including rushing turnstiles and forcing open fire exits to permit access to individuals without tickets.

With less than 600 tickets available for Sunday’s match at Tynecastle the absence of the Green Brigade will barely be noticed but there will be 2,500 Celtic fans at Easter Road the following week.

November sees Celtic travel to Madrid and Rome in the Champions League with travel arrangements almost certainly already booked.

With a ban on away tickets going to the Green Brigade the Ultras group will be under increased scrutiny at home matches with the club showing that they are prepared to take drastic action.

Can’t compromise on the use of pyrotechnics. Only a matter of time before an accident occurs!

    • Davie says:

It has taken far to long to deal with the green brigade, Celtic should have set a standard for all supporters to follow, any fans breaching the rules should be banned forever.
      Respect the team.
      Respect the club.
      Respect the individual.
      Respect other countries.
There is no place in a sporting activity for certain elements of the green brigade, not all are bad but they are tarnished.

Pyros look great but should be stopped for safety reasons especially for those suffering asthma etc. This isn’t me bashing green brigade as I am a big fan of them. Shame on the board releasing it to the scummy sun newspaper

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Disgraceful indeed John that they used The Sun instead of their website…

But the board always were and will always be yellow men in grey suits !

  • John S says:

Refund their Home allocation too. The Green Brigade bring too much bad publicity to the club.

  • Charlie Green says:

    The Sun??
I have always thought that the board should inform the pro Celtic sites, like this one, first of any news on transfers etc. instead of releasing to the press. That way fans will know it will not be twisted. The media can pick up from here if they like.

Editor: The surprise is that they didn’t hand this story to the Daily Mail.

What you have got to remember is that there are no Brains in the Celtic Boardroom. Collectively, they are Thick!
They don’t have the ability to talk to the Press or Media, so they Release Statements! To The Sun! Most Celtic supporters wouldn’t read the headlines in The Sun!
They are comprised of Accountants and their sons, failed Reporters and Politicians and Mute Lawyers. They are career Directors. They are only interested in themselves and their own salaries. They represent the shareholders of the plc.
They do not represent the supporters of Celtic or their views!

I have a really bad feeling that this is a precursor of things to come. I support the green brigade on many platforms, tifos, fundraising etc. What I dislike immensely is the fact that they think they speak for the whole Celtic support.

Very presumptuous and completely wrong a bit like the clown who resideds in no 10 saying the whole of Britain supports you to a psychopath nutter who views the Palestinian people as animals.

Don’t ever presume that everyone agrees with your mentality. I hope we do fly the flags of Palestinian at our next uefa game as we have always done without any distasteful banners and being honest you have your fellow supporters behind you if it’s done properly.

As for banning the GB from away grounds, maybe it might give them the time to reflect that it looks like ned behaviour and not fitting for celtic supporters.

Editor: I don’t think that there is one single instance of the Green Brigade claiming that they speak for anyone other than themselves.

    • Amcq14 says:

Yes, you are correct but they are part of our support. What they do reflects on us all. Right or wrong. As I previously stated, I do support them in many ways but I have no problem with them being reined in either when they go OTT.

      • the maister says:

        The Ed. is correct?
Are you lecturing us then with
“Don’t ever presume that everyone agrees with your mentality.”?
