Billy Davies has tossed his hat into the expanding ring of candidates for the vacant managers job at Ibrox.
After a mysterious nine years out of management the former Nottingham Forest and Derby boss is looking to get back into the game and offer a cheap and staunch package to the Ibrox club.
Following on from Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Micky Beale there is a clear message to bring in a True Blue who understands the culture of the club which appears to be a popular euphemism.
With Neil Warnock and Sam Allardyce showing no enthusiasm for the job the search for candidates is having to look further afield.

The Record reports:
Billy Davies wants the chance to reignite Rangers and get them back challenging for glory in Scotland and Europe.
The former Nottingham Forest and Derby County boss is keen on the vacant Ibrox position. Davies is also set to boost his bid by putting together an experienced backroom staff with strong Rangers connections. The experienced manager also has strong support from influential figures associated with the club.
Davies has been out of football for nine years and the bulk of that time out has been for family reasons. He has received interest from several English Championship and League One approaches in that time but is now keen to get back into the game at the highest level.
The former Rangers player has a wealth of experience and believes he can get his old back challenging in the Premiership and in Europe.
He has made a name for galvanising dressing rooms and bringing a real team unity that was lacking under previous Rangers boss Michael Beale, who was sacked earlier this week. The Ibrox board is now in the process of considering replacements and Davies is keen to pitch his case.
At Forrest Davies had a number of run-ins with the local media, being completely paranoid which should appeal to most angry bears.
I’d be amazed if legal action hasn’t been taken on this report…

He’s certainly got the required ugly rat face to be a hun manager.
Mind you, you can’t blame him for trying. He knows all he has to do is chuck in the occasional No Surrender and the dumb hun gullibillies will lap it up and hand over their benefit money.
The banter years continue unabated.
NEVER give a sucker an even break.
In fairness, you don’t need to be close to someone to tag-team a burd. The Daily Record at its best.
I see the Record have wheeled out big Amorusso to big up Lazio , just to stir the pot for tonight’s UCL game ? It was too good an opportunity for the rag to miss ….operation disruption ! I can’t wait for the fair balancing piece , you know the one where Scotland’s Champion newspaper(self titled), praises and backs Celtic FC to do the club and country proud tonight ! Glasgow will be sectarian free first ,I suspect !
Hope you hauled it out a bin to read John as that’s where it belongs…
I think I’d rather haul a dead rat out a bin than touch that rag to be honest –
That said it and it’s building is well infested with rats !
Think Martindale is a better option than Davies.
Here’s my betting for next permanent sevco manager;
Steve Davis Evens
Macinnes 3/2
Martindale 5/1
Davies. 10/1
Any ex-RFC player 10/1
Any ex-EPL Mgmt. 20/1
Murty. 50/1
Lennon. 100/1
McCoist 100/1
😉
The Pope 1000000/1.
I’d say the Pope would be far likelier than Lennon. I think the hordes of hunnery may despise Lenny more….
Oh dear Billy Davies a thought he was pan breed, just like the oldco.
Billy Davies – just the man to kickstart their campaign with a bang (or two).
I think if they get a big name manager then money “they don’t have” will be found. Where did they get the £12,000,000 for Beale to waste or was that just paper talk. Commentators are always saying they are one wages default from administration but they always have someone paying at the last minute.
Did Brown ever find out who owns the deeds to Ibrox? He’s been awful quiet since he was recently papped out.
The DUP got a £ ONE BILLION pounds from Tory Prime Minister Teresa May…
Plenty of that could filter it’s way over to Liebrox with a wee bit of creative accountancy –
One thing is for certain – The SFA, SPFL and The Scottish Football Media will do NOTHING !
