Desperate Record turning towards Muscat Mania

The Daily Record is starting to get behind Kevin Muscat as Philippe Clement’s reluctance to move to Ibrox becomes more and more obvious.

Back in June the Belgian was sacked by Monaco, 14 days after Micky Beale was sacked there are no concrete signs that Clement is poised to pick up on the carnage left behind by Micky Beale.

Muscat seems to be the only credible alternative to Clement but based in Tokyo it seems that contact has been restricted to Zoom calls with Yokohama F Marinos in action through the international break.

After Monaco Clemente is bound to be expecting some sort of transfer funding for January but if the war-chest consists of what can be raised from selling Beale’s flops it is no surprise that the Belgian is in no rush to get measured up for a blazer and brogues.

Hedging their bets on Day 14 of the Live Managers Blog at 16.46 they reports:

If Kevin Muscat is to become the Rangers boss he faces a whirlwind few days.

The boss has yet to hold face-to-face talks with clubs chiefs with his conversations taking place over Zoom.

And he won’t be flying into Glasgow within the next 24 hours as he is expected to lead Yokohama F Marinos in their clash with Urawa Red Diamonds on Sunday.

But what happens after that? Yokohama’s calendar clears until they are back in J-League action on Saturday, October 21 – the same day Rangers play Hibs. Which dugout will Muscat be in?

Looks like the team at the Record will be on this job for a few more days and possibly weeks yet.

Be fair Joe. It’s not just any old brown brogues and blazer he’d be getting fitted for. It’s the brown brogues and blazer of unsurpassed dignity. Representing a 12 year old club with 150 years of mythical history! The Brigadoon of brogues and blazers!

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Oh Come on now BriBhoy 12 years old… That’s far too generous !

As of today (14-Oct-2023) Sevco are 11 years and 77 days old…

Canny be bothered working out the hours, minutes and seconds though !!!!

  • Bob (original) says:

The added appeal of Clement must be the lack of any compensation payable?

IF Muscat was to jump ship to the sinking ibrox ASAP – that’s going to cost

    the Blue Room something?

Rae Davis must stay to season end. It’s the cheapest / easiest option. 🙂

Good job the hacks at the DR are so well-connected and insightful…. if neither of the ‘favourites’ can be persuaded their future is in broon brogues, they’re gonna have a hell of a job selling McInnes / Davies / Neilson to The Orcs as having been plan ‘A’ all along!

  • Bob (original) says:

At 10.30pm The DR is claiming an appointment to be announced in next 48 hours,

    either Muscat or Clement.

But, if sevco hasn’t even opened negotiations with Yokohama yet – and with the time

difference – then sevco has no control over when/if Muscat’s current employer agrees

    terms.

    So, it’s Clement then…?

  • John Copeland says:

There are 6 known the Rangers supporting print scoops at the quickly evaporating daily Record and not one of them knows the time of day with current affairs of an Ibrox kind … 6 of them . God knows how many digital scoops there are ?

  • harold shand says:

They’ve spent the last week running 1000 articles a day blowing smoke up the two c*nts jeers , hyping them beyond belief

Whoever gets the job will be the new messiah , heading for the EPL , like Ange

The one who doesn’t get the job , whatever they’ve said about him for the last week will be instantly forgotten and they’ll start running articles on how he really ain’t that good

  • John S says:

Oh no, Scottish football is in trouble now. Muscat promises allegiance and Dessers’ value shyrockets into zillions. Tavernier gets a penalty. It’s going to VAR. VAR overrules the penalty and says GOAL !

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

    I wouldn’t listen to The Daily Record…

For every 100 pieces of junk that they publish – 99 are lies and therefore wrong –

If they’re saying ‘Kev’ it’ll likely end out being Phillipa !
