The Ibrox messengers were quickly on the case after Fabrizio Romano tweeted about an approach being made to Sam Jewell over the vacant Sporting Director role at Ibrox.

Brighton’s Head of Recruitment has a proven track record of success with the south coast club looked on enviously for the seamless transfer activity that has lifted the club to their highest ever position, riding high in the EPL and experiencing European football for the first time ever.

Turning over a profit of £100m on Moises Caicedo is the sort of deal that James Bisgrove dreams of with the so-called player trading model at Ibrox grinding to a halt when Ajax quietly dumped Calvin Bassey on Fulham.

After wasting £15m on Danilo, Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers in the summer funds for the Philippe Clement Revolution will be very limited with the main task for a Sporting Director being to salvage fees or loan deals from Beale’s flops.

The Sun broke the story of interest in Jewell on Sunday, when Romano followed up on it the Ibrox media messengers were quickly alerted.

A ‘reverse Morelos strategy’ being played at ibrox…?

Be linked with various, top notch names – but no offer is ever forthcoming.

But it does maintain a perception of activity / interest – and it costs absolutely nothing!

What decent, accomplished Sporting Director would touch the ibrox job

with a very long, very smelly stick?

The first question at an SD interview: “What would my budget be in January?”

Quickly followed by: “No thanks.” 🙂

The Jewell in The Crown then…

Yep that would be a dream for The Sevco Huns (The words alone) –

He would be mad to even contemplate taking it…

Look at the abuse Ross Wilson took from them (the ‘support’ers’ ) –

He’d be well advised to ask Wilson what it’s like there…

Hopefully Wilson would be honest with him !

Pretty much anything that Fab dude tweets about Celtic or them the ‘ Digital Journalists ‘ at the Record etc copy and paste within 5 minutes

Weird how they never went anywhere near this one

  • Captain Swing says:

After doing a very creditable job at Brighton, he’ll be considered lightning in a bottle in the EPL and in den-and, so he’d join Sevco precisely why?

Their track record of recruiting players from the EPL consists mostly of the permanently injured, the unwanted and the virtually unemployable because that’s as far as their budget extends. It’s the same for non-playing staff – e.g. Lampard, whose interest ended as soon as he learned what the budget was….

Ah Jewel in the klan klubs krown. As if the guy would leave Brighton who are in a fantastic place in the EPL and a well run club to go to a nickel&dime outfit, and then there is the money/wages factor of it,now does sevco match up what Brighton will be paying? I don’t think so.
