Kemar Roofe has been struck down by another mystery injury.

The striker was listed as a substitute against Hibs on Saturday but failed to make the squad for last night’s Europa League tie against Sparta Prague leaving Philippe Clement to work with Danilo and Cyriel Dessers in attack.

Roofe is generally acknowledged as the best striker at Ibrox but that is increasingly looking like a reflection on the competition for that position.

Last season he made six appearances off the bench, the last one coming in February but this term he has started six matches including the Glasgow Derby on September 3.

Speaking this morning at a general media conference Clement gave a familiar update on the fitness of the striker who will be 31 in January.

Kemar will not be available for the weekend for sure, probably we will need to rebuild. The next weeks we probably need to take a good look at the because he has been struggling for a long time with the same things.

So it is important that we find also what the reasons for that and not always the solution to get him fit for the next game and then struggling afterwards again. Not going game by game but really going to the cause of the problem. we need to take a good look at how he is getting on and how we bring him back long-term.

With his contract expiring in May, Roofe will need to get some games this season if he is to have any chance of offers in the summer.
