Steven Naismith almost called it all out after his side conceded two penalties at Ibrox in a late defeat.
The only comment missing is that neither would have happened at the other end of the pitch as the SFA appointed referees made it 64 SPFL matches without awarding a penalty in the SPFL against the Ibrox club.
That run now covers three managers, three seasons and stretches to 22 months including a full year with VAR monitoring every incident in the penalty box.
With two minutes of additional time due at the end of the first half Beaton just allowed play to continue until Abdallah Sima was fouled in the penalty box. It was a clear penalty- 30 seconds after both teams should have been heading off at half time.

With a Hearts corner breaking down in the 87th minute Ross McCausland pushed over an opponent near the touchline- free-kick to the home side which lead to a corner.
John Beaton had a clear view of the jostling centred on John Lundstram, Peter Haring and Conor Goldson. After being alerted to a VAR check play was halted, the referee went to the monitor with a penalty the inevitable outcome.
Muir chose to show Beaton a shirt pull on Goldson, ignoring the body-check from Lundstram immediately before that action. The man from the Crown Inn, Bellshill didn’t flinch, delivering consistently in a certain direction for almost a decade.
With the gap at the top of the Premiership down to five points Scottish football got the required outcome from the weekend with Muir picking up fees from Easter Road and Ibrox.
VAR man Alan Muir had 6 penalty review moments in favour of Rangers today when they were trailing 1-0. As much as Naismith is clutching at straws both were penalties but he is correct in calling out where the additional 1 min came from in the 1st half. No referee, who has a, allegiance, to a club, should,be allowed to referee that game ….. only in Scotland ????

The number 4 certainly blocks Haring at pretty much the same time as the shirt pull starts.
The chances of the ref/VAR being brave enough to give that as a foul at Ibrox are vanishingly small.pic.twitter.com/TCP8fUelQh— Philip of Burgundy (@Phil_Burgundy) October 29, 2023
Would Muir have alerted Beaton if it had been Goldson pulling Haring’s shirt up the other end? I think all decent football people know the answer to that question.

It must be bad when an ex Rangers player is beelin about decisions going Rangers’ way! Won’t make a difference though. If you can’t win the league despite 2 years of no pens conceded at home you’re in a bad way!

There was no greater sigh of relief today than in the celtic boardroom. Mon mate.

My grandfather believed decades ago that televised football would expose the bias towards Rangers and fine margin decisions. He was wrong. I thought that VAR would expose it. I too was wrong

Don’t like him but he’s 100% correct
Honest mistakes cost hearts terribly today

Neither should the first one, clear foul on a Hearts player

If that’s a penalty, then there would 10 pens every game how much pulling and shoving goes on.
Rangers struggling to score ok pen time.
As much as I dislike Hearts that’s never a pen— paul kelly (@mirrenmad) October 29, 2023
Lol that’s why it’s a nickel&dime league with nickel&dime money from and now no sponsor for the league itself, just what big recognised company wants to be associated or have connections with a CORRUPT sport.
Our own club and every other one in league all play their part in this CORRUPTION.
That’s the markers down now fir the rest of this season sevco ain’t losing anymore ganes this season the ref and other officials from yesterday will see to that, that was only the beginning of the dodgy mistakes decisions.
Remember £40 to £50 million is at stake here and the cheque has sevco’s name all over it to get that champions league spot.
Until Scottish Clubs, in general, and ours in particular, OFFICIALLY highlight their concerns about dubious decisions favouring Sevco…and Sevco supporting referees…then nothing will change…and Scottish football will continue to get what it deserves…Oh and Naismith might not be all that bothered…ONCE A RANGER…etc
Editor: Naismith will change his tune next month when he is jostling with McCann, Miller and McCulloch for a Sportscene place with big Thommo, like Beale he is hanging in for the compo.
Here’s a thought.
We know that our Board gets very excited about supporters and flags,
to the point where the Board actually issues critical, public statements.
Maybe, for home games we should all turn up waving white flags?
Well, the Board has obviously surrendered – to the SFA, the Scottish Referees’
Association and any dodgy VAR decisions – and has remained shockingly
silent on decisions which negatively impact the club and its supporters.
Exactly why I chucked it Bob (original)…
And on the subject of the board issuing critical public statements on supporter behaviour, flags, banners and symbols etc etc –
Then it’ll be very interesting to see if Celtic run out of the tunnel at Ross County on Saturday with our beloved Hoops stained with red poppy symbols adorned on them…
Remember we are NOT a political football club – or so we keep getting told…
Saturday will be interesting indeed then !
Great post Bob…White flags really good…
