Michael Gannon of the Daily Record has claimed that Reo Hatate will be out of action until the new year with a torn hamstring.

The midfielder suffered an injury in the opening minutes of the 2-2 draw against Hibs that forced him out of Saturday’s 0-0 draw away to Hibs.

At his media conference on Friday Brendan Rodgers was unable to give a timeline on the midfielders return from injury with Paulo Bernardo starting his first match of the season on Saturday.

Covering an interview with Greg Taylor in the Daily Record after the draw with Hibs Gannon includes a throwaway line of:

Celtic are set to be without Reo Hatate until the New Year after the midfielder tore his hamstring against Atletico.

No detail has previously been given on the nature of the injury or the length of the lay off.

If it is until the new year it will be a massive blow for Celtic who had settled into a midfield trio of Hatate, Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley with all three signing new contracts this year.

David Turnbull and Tomoki Iwata are other options open to Rodgers but neither can be described as a like for like replace ment for Hatate.

“If he is out until the new year it’ll be a massive blow for Celtic”

Indeed it will – But if your auntie had balls she’d be your uncle…

I say this because it’s been reported by Video Celts as being reported in The (wishful thinking) Daily Record –

For ever 100 pieces of shit they publish they’ll be 99 that are lies when it comes to Celtic…

Best taken with a pinch of salt !

Couldn’t agree more,we know Reo is going to be out normally a bad muscle injury can sometimes be as long as 5/6 weeks.More important this time is that he takes time to recover probably don’t rush back lots of games to be played on cold wet parks,he is too valuable a player for us best of care not luck YNWA ??

    Not turdball.

Rodgers said a few weeks ?

You would think if this hack knew for sure that Hatate was going to be out for 2 months

That would be the main story , not GT talking about tough away fixture runs

What he’s done is looked at the timeline of a hamstring injury and went with the worst case scenario and dropped that in at the end

Was this the weekend the League was lost ? Losing Hatate till New Year +, the inevitable Muirfest at Easter Rd,3 mins additional time,4 fouls Hibs 12 fouls Celtic, attacks constantly thwarted by non-existent fouls- the full treatment ! This followed by the double penalty whammy delivered by the ever dependable Beaton has cut the lead to 5 pts. In the Jan window if Celtic are offered £20 million for O’Reilly the Board will take it probably

How do you beat a team who NEVER concede a pen or suffer a RED card ?

The Board appear to tacitly have accepted a title loss this season given their reason for refusing to recruit NECESSARY quality 1st team ready additions i.e. GOALKEEPER,LEFT BACK,STRIKER MINIMALLY and their statement about a BUFFER to cover the shortfall of a season of no CL group stage participation.
McGinn and Toney should be playing for Celtic but thanks to bottom-line LAWWELL THEY’RE NOT ! What a catastrophic error/missed opportunity ! McGinn now Captain of the Villa and worth £50 million and Toney an England international !

I’ve lived in London for 47 years and have followed Celtic for 65 years and I’m truly saddened by the actions of the unambitious Board who are Rangers best friends. In the 4 last day title finishes since 2000 Rangers+Refs have won three and I fear that this season will end that way. The way the Board stays stumm about the perennial refereeing “anomalies” is really quite SINISTER.

I hope I’m wrong but the trajectory is looking very threatening- the utter failure of the bench at Easter Rd ,Maeda and Forrest as ever missing sitters has given them a huge boost. If them get into the CL groups next season they’ll cop the £60 million and Celtic will have quali rnds to negotiate- very iffy.
