Panic at Ibrox as unemployed Clement makes his demands

The Ibrox board are holding back from meeting the demands of Philippe Clement.

The former Monaco boss is the clear fans favourite to replace Micky Beale judging from social media which puts the pressure on James Bisgrove and John Bennett to deliver.

Finding someone to take over the carnage left behind by Micky Beale is no easy task with the next victim knowing that even reaching a European final isn’t good enough if you are nine points behind Celtic in November.

Bisgrove and Bennett seem to have spent a week in London interviewing each other while the media messengers are fed enough to convince the Gullible & Deluded that a high quality recruitment search is underway.

Unless some drastic action is taken soon Steve Davis and Alex Rae will be preparing the squad at Murray Park on Monday with the second Revolution of 2023 delayed.

Sharing his insight with Daily Record readers, Keith Jackson explains:

It’s understood Clement wants a long term commitment from Rangers if he is to agree a deal after seeing the Light Blues board pull the trigger early on Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Beale. The Belgian has concerns over how short the Ibrox reigns were of both Van Bronckhorst and Beale who lasted just 12 months and 10 months respectively.

Clement was sacked himself after 18 months in charge of Monaco and has been out of work since. And he is looking for a longer term guarantee if he opts to move to the Scottish Premiership. He has also held talks with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Shabab and the latest reports in the Middle East claim they want to steal a march on Rangers and “quickly complete” the appointment of the Belgian.

A four year contract for the unemployed Belgian and his backroom staff is unlikely to leave much left over for the January transfer warchest which would leave Clemente having to rely on the Imaginative Transfer Policy tried out by van Bronckhorst in the summer of 2022.

I think that Al- Kebab would be a safer bet for Clemente, at least his compen would be guaranteed. If he’s looking for money to rebuild he won’t be getting the job, the warchest is more like a jewellery box.

  • Captain Swing says:

Nae wonder he wants a big long contract, he’d be setting himself up as Paul Le Guen Mark II – the iBrox job didn’t do a great deal for his career!

WGAF I’m more interested in the effect that all this escalation in Israel/Palestine is having on Abada. Our own supporters could drive him out of the club if their displays continue.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

According to Celtic minded forums The Scottish Football Media are more than doing their duty (underhandedly to Sevco) by trawling and looking for ‘advice’ from Israel to pass on to him…

That is if he is that simplistic in life to 1) – Read the gutter rags (and) 2) – If that sadly being the case, to listen to the gutter trawled ‘advice’ !

      • Stevie says:

Yeh pass the buck. During this conflict, if you were an Israeli, and you ran out to a stand (of your own supporters) waving Palestinian flags…How would you feel? A bit pissed I would think. I thought we were a club for all? Seems to be when it suits.

        • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

I never took a flag of any sorts into Parkhead in ma 25 years of going Stevie so personally not guilty of that ‘offence’ but here what your saying all the same…

I certainly would hate it if I was a Celtic player and I ran out the tunnel at Parkhead to face Butchers Aprons from ma own fans –

That said – I have met quite a few Celtic fans who have openly admitted to liking The Butchers Apron in a political sphere – simply by the Butchers Apron loving political parties that they openly admitted voting for…

Very few were Tories though !

  • Bob (original) says:

Clement might be Belgian, but this has the makings of a ‘Paul Le Guen II’ !

He’s not won anything outside Belgium.

However, he does have significantly more experience with c.300 games

    as manager – compared to Beale’s 65.

IF Keef’s reporting is anywhere near accurate, [?]

it reads like Clement wants a multiyear, watertight contract,

whereas B&B want to offer significantly less,

    …like a 12 months rolling contract?

Yes, Rae Davis will be staying as the Interim DreamTeam ! 🙂

If they get Muscat and he brings in players from the Asian leagues

Will the orcs still revel in cracking jokes about hiding yer dugs etc
