When you go down to 10 men the last player that you want to see red carded is the guy that covers more ground than seems possible.

Celtic’s faint chances of success in Madrid last week disappeared when Daizen Maeda was sent off, few thought that it would be a while before he’d be back in action.

A suspension for Lazio away was always going to be a blow but being without the industrious winger for six weeks through injury will test the depth of a squad that is already without Liel Abada and Reo Hatate.

There is no like for like Maeda replacement but Yang Hyun-Jun put in an impressive display against Aberdeen on Sunday before suffering a late facial injury.

A year ago Ange Postecoglou was balancing playing time between Jota, Abada and Maeda, over a busy period of the season Brendan Rodgers will have to lean on Yang and Luis Palma.

Judging by the second image Maeda is taking the positives out of his lay-off with more family time and Instagram content around Glasgow.

Rodgers did mention an absence of upto six weeks, that would be towards mid-December which should ensure that the former Yokohama man is back in action ahead of the Glasgow Derby on December 30.
