Celtic duck away from challenging anti-Semitic claim made by Israel boss

A number of Celtic fan media sites are reporting an un-named Celtic spokesman denying that the club’s support is anti-Semitic.

The issue arose after Israel boss Alon Hazan made the claim when he was discussing Liel Abada.

The comments may have been lost in translation between Hebrew and reaching the PUBLISH button with the Scottish mainstream but mud sticks with the story prominent from this afternoon onwards. There is nothing on the Celtic website or social media accounts challenging the claim.

Some fan websites expected the club to reply but anyone paying attention would have been shocked at a defence of the fans coming from within the Celtic boardroom.

In more than two years as CEO Michael Nicholson hasn’t commented on anything outwith his minimal duties.

You’ll get a nicely crafted statement with the Annual Report, similar with the interim accounts and absolutely nothing else.

It took a question at last years AGM for Nicholson to comment on broken glass mysteriously appearing in Joe Hart’s penalty box at Ibrox. During the half-time break glass appeared that was missed by stewards and police, with CCTV not working the incident will remain a mystery known only to the Ibrox ground-staff who were working in the penalty box at the time.

Fran Alonso being attacked at his place of work? Not a word.

A token six week suspension to the thug that attacked Alonso- not a word.

No Celtic fans have been at Ibrox for the last two Glasgow Derbies- not a word has been said by Nicholson although Celtic’s favoured messengers have been filled in with the reasons from ‘club sources’.

All sorts of refereeing inconsistencies have been thrown up, more so since the introduction of VAR without a word from the Celtic boardroom.

The claims about the Celtic support by Hazan are out there. Google his name and Celtic for proof, somehow the denial given to a couple of fan websites isn’t going to carry any clout with the slur sticking.

When have you ever known tories to stand up for the plebs?

  • John A says:

The vote shows how split we are becoming. This board is incapable of uniting Celtic.

    • KC67 says:

The board are only Interested in the fans money, and their own enrichment, that’s all. They couldn’t give a toss what the fans think about anything.

Lawwell will be laughing in the fans faces again at the AGM. You couldn’t mark their necks with a blowtorch.

Tory rats every one of them.

  • John S says:

The Green Brigade are responsible for the tarnishing of Celtic’s name, nobody else. The Israel manager’s comments are most unfortunate given that the club took decisive action in banning the group.

    • TicToc says:

So John S, you think it’s out of order flying the flag of a severely oppressed nation and see that as anti-semitic? Who started the ongoing troubles in Palestine from around 70 years ago?
1)Tell you what, pal, answer this for me. What do you think Peter Lawwell should do regarding the cheating of various refs against our club and FOR the new huns?
      2) What do you think is more provocative to an enclosed crowd, some people waving a nation’s flag or refs cheating right in front of you?
I eagerly await your considered response.

You will not answer TicToc John S. It is because you are akin to the Celtic Board.
      They are
      “Suits”
who turn up at a football Club for their occupation. Lawyer, Accountant, Politician etc.
What they know about Football is not worth knowing!
You could easily be mistook for a robot, a parrot or an algorithm.
Like the Israeli’s you cannot provide Reasonable Argument. You are like a bull presented with a Red Flag.
      It makes you rage!

    • the maister says:

How are the GB responsible for tarnishing Celtic’s name?
Nobody else? What are you taliking about?
Your second sentence means as much as you do to the Green.
      Nothing!

  • the maister says:

“Have You Seen The Postman” Mr. Lawwell?
    Pure brass-neck!

  • the maister says:

Celtic Media quote a Celtic Spokesman saying
‘”The Comments Were Baseless And As Celtic Said “Totally “Inaccurate”.’
    But are they?
At the Celtic v Hapoel Be’er Sheva EUL game in 2016, the Hapoel Team Bus was greeted at Celtic Park with, let’s say
    “Agressive (Palestine) Flag waving”
    at Celtic Park.
The Board don’t seem to have a handle on this issue, one way or the other. And therefore leave our Club open to criticism!
