Since January 2021 Kieran Maguire has been tipping the Ibrox Tribute Act to surpass Celtic in terms of turnover and profit.
Last season he was presented with a fairly level playing field with both clubs in the group stages of the Champions League, as a boost to the club founded in 2012 they had the gate money from two qualifiers to boost their revenue.
For reasons that have never been clear, perhaps the complete lack of competitors, Maguire has become the go-to guy in mainstream media circles when football finances need to be discussed.
He might know his way through a balance sheet and announcements at Companies House but it seems that appearing on a few Ibrox fan podcasts has seriously damaged his ability to analyse Scottish football matters.
Overall revenue up 82% as fans returned to Ibrox and progress in Europa League. Gap to Celtic, which was £69m in 2018, almost eliminated. Would have been reversed if both clubs accounted for merchandise in same manner pic.twitter.com/NLNAVW79zp

In the year to 30 June 2023 Celtic recorded turnover of £119.9m which generated a profit of £40.7m. Yesterday their city rivals £83.744m which created a loss of £4.144m.
Even non-accountants can work out that Celtic raised an extra £36m and had a profit differential of £44.8m on their supposed rivals.
Those sort of figures instantly highlight the wishful thinking on the part of Maguire, hopefully soon he can become the new Neil Patey with daily appearances on BBC Scotland and STV.

It’s not great but would expect a significant decrease in wage bill in 23/24 as no CL qualification bonuses.

If I remember correctly, a number of years ago this Kieran Maguire was getting attention by making positive noises about sevco.
The phrase “having a look under the hood” was attributed to him, I believe, as he talked p!sh about the bright future for the ibrox club.
He is such a finance whizz that he declared at that time that he had also bought some RIFC shares!
Quite happy for sevco cheerleaders to talk up their shocking financials.
CFC is about half as big again than RIFC, by revenues, and CFC is generating an incredible profit margin of about a third!
And come January, the warchest for Clement is going to be empty, locked, and possibly sitting at the bottom of the River Clyde! 🙂
Editor: It was another Kieran, Prior, introduced by the Daily Record as the most intelligent person in Britain that decided to look under the bonnet- he hasn’t been seen since.
If it wasn’t for Desmond and Lawwell keeping these klowns relevant they’d have the turnover of a club the size of Airdrie.
One certain connection they’ve got with Airdrieonians is that both them and Rangers (deceased c.2012) are dead…
Apologies, and thanks for that correction – too many Kierans about, is my only excuse. 🙁
Another out and out Liar to soothe The Liebrox Lying Gullibilly Gullibears then…
And his name Kieran Maguire – How will that go down with The anti Irish names Brigade then –
Mind you – He wouldn’t be the first guy with a ‘timmy’ name to sell his soul to the devils in Hell…
Inverclyde McCann and the journalist called (ironically enough) McGuire immediately spring to mind –
And you can never go by names either…
Didn’t Sevco refuse to look at Danny McGrain because they ‘thought’ he was of Catholic faith –
And the guy that killed all the Celtic supporters in Belfast in The 70’s had the surname Murphy…
So this guy Maguire could be out n’ out pro Sevco –
But he probably just sees them as Guillible and easy targets for business !
Wow , an oversight of £36 million pounds by a financial expert . It’s an incredible sum of dough in anybody’s language ! Good god almighty , if you were to sit down in a vault and physically count £36 mill ,it would take you 6 months to do so …that’s how much we are disregarding here !
Maguire !!! a king prawn Langer !!!
Probably Uses an abacus and takes his shoes and socks off to explain his prediction.
I wonder how much the team was paid in bonuses for being the worst outfit ever to appear in the Champions’ League group stages.
