Green Brigade take transfer dig at Michael Nicholson

The Green Brigade has hit back at Celtic’s Thursday statement and added a pointed dig at Michael Nicholson’s transfer strategy.

The dispute between the Boardroom and the Ultras group has been very public with 267 Season Tickets suspended.

Both sides seem to be digging in with virtually no middle ground to talk things through but until now all comment has been about fan behaviour and incidents in and around Celtic matches.

That changed today with the Green Brigade revealing that their scheduled summer meeting with Michael Nicholson was put back to September while the CEO dealt with transfer business.

Celtic made seven summer signings plus two loan deals in the final week of August, so far none of the arrivals have proven to be an upgrade on the squad that finished last season.

Following the latest reworked statement from the PLC board, we would like to address a few brief points.

We see little value in continuing this online game of statement-tennis which was initiated by the PLC board, and which continues to draw out by repeating the same disingenuous claims that we have already addressed.

We note that the PLC board claims to be open to dialogue and engagement. We remind them that we have been waiting for a meeting with chief executive officer Michael Nicholson since the summer.

The planned summer meeting was originally postponed until September to allow focus on transfer activity – we await satisfactory progress on both fronts and remain open to constructive dialogue moving forward.

Should our own situation not be satisfactorily resolved by Celtic v Motherwell, 25/11/23, we will organise a day of action at this match. We will liaise with all interested Celtic fans, fan groups and CSCs in the lead up to this date.

Are Celtic right to suspend Season Tickets for Green Brigade members?

Yes, the board are protecting their business

No, they are badly out of touch

Sunday’s match against Aberdeen will be the second home game that Season Tickets have been suspended for.

Celtic are a plc now. That puts them into the big money international group / club.
Their income from the fans is secure, with the season ticket waiting list as proof of that.
They will only do things their own way now!
With a guaranteed income, they will have a five-year plan.
But it won’t be concerned with footballing matters. Those are trivial concerns for the big money league players and they can look after themselves, with the only minimal of maintenance required. Mark Lawwell can see to that!
It will be all about the money now, because they have joined the Big League of capitalised assets. It is Capitalism’s ugly side.
The GB mean about as much to them as the dust on their Celtic plc suits!
They can go to the wall because there are plenty of punters willing to take their places at the stadium!
You used to have a football Club called Celtic. Now they have a company called Celtic plc.

Good point ! – Although Celtic plc have been pretty successful since The Millennium in comparison to The Late Rangers (deceased c.2012) and Sevco (D.O.B. 29/7/2012) !

    • Bob (original) says:

And as a plc, the company is expected to operate in a professional manner.

Neither the Board nor the GB are coming out of this public squablling with any

credit: it’s the Club’s image which is being tarnished.

The Board consists of highly paid professionals to be temporary caretakers,

but it’s like amatuer hour – yet again.

      In recent years we’ve had:

      – Lennon’s ‘shower appointment’

      – Howe stringing along the Board for weeks

and now Christmas has come early for the SMSM, to put their own

spin on this Board / GB fallout.

      One thing is guaranteed though:

nobody on the Board will ever consider the ‘honourable’ plc act,

of falling on their sword for managing a shambles. 🙁

Another home game and another potential day of protests / between The Green Brigade and The Board…

Please – Both Sides – There is a critical League to be won here…

The Team need SUPPORT not two diametrically opposed factions squabbling like kids at times –

We have a great chance to put a jackboot on the throat of Sevco for a good while by winning The League this season…

We seem to be they’re best pals in trying to sabotage that dream –

Sevco must be smuggly laughing all the way looking in on all this as they seem to be all pulling in the same direction over there for the first time in years and years…

C’mon Celtic (And The Green Brigade) – They’ve enough advantage in Scotland from many divisions of society without us self combusting to aid and abet them one inch further forward !

  • john clarke says:

Michael Nicholson is a Corporate Lawyer who knows Contract Law “inside-out”.
He is not a primary decision maker for which players come or go. He does contribute
on the financial side of contracts.
As a young man, Michael was a Solicitor.

  • john clarke says:

I could have explained that better. Negotiation of transfer fees, add-ons, wages, special Player needs, with Player Agents, Players and Clubs. That’s only half of it. You know this
J F. You were beside yourself when the Club got 20 mill Pounds for Jota. Michael was involved.
There are UEFA rules that Celtic FC has to abide by or there are costly consequences.
It was not the time or the place to fly that flag. You knew the answer to your question.

  • the maister says:

Yes, and now Celtic plc are pitting their full Corporate might against their own supporters!
That never happened in over one hundred years under the Families!
The Board of the plc have opted to attack their own supporters, rather than to address their concerns. That is a bloody disgrace!
And you are supporting it and so is Michael Nicholson!
Without the supporters’ subs, Michael Nicholson would still be a solicitor and for all of his life!
The Celtic fans’ culture pre-date this plc Board by a long shot!
But the Board of the plc do not understand it or them because they are not Football people.
And at the end of the day, all they are interested in is their stipend!

  • the maister says:

Don’t J F. me you dirty little rodent Hun!
