Lee McCulloch has opted out of coaching at the age of 45 to concentrate on the easy life of being a BBC Scotland pundit.

Lucrative appearances with Steven Thompson on Sportscene or with Kenny Macintyre should keep the cash flowing after being exposed in the real world of football management.

For no reason other than the name of his previous employer McCulloch was given the job of managing Kilmarnock in February 2017, after 29 matches he was dumped with Steve Clarke taking the same group of players from relegation to third place in the SPFL Premiership.

Spells assisting Robbie Neilson at Dundee United and Hearts followed but with the former Jambos boss back in business at Tampa Bay Rowdies his loyal number two will be sticking to the cosy world of BBC punditry.

Listening to last night’s snoozefest on Radio Scotland, The Sun reports McCulloch saying:

Robbie has done well, he’s off to America. The invite was there but I’ve chosen not to go down that path again. I can’t see myself going into coaching, assistant managing or managing. I just don’t think it’s for me.

The coaching side of it has changed a little bit, it’s quite laptop-y and not enough on the eye. The environment has changed.

I’m happy doing what I’m doing, spending some family time. And working with Thommo (Steven Thompson) is just sensational. And yourself Kenny.

It sounds like BBC licence payers are in for hours of insightful comment with McCulloch joining Neil McCann, Kenny Miller, Richard Foster, Shelley Kerr and Derek Ferguson reading off virtually the same script on the Clement Revolution!

Another reason never to listen then… HOWEVER…

Eventually Sevco will lose a game Under Clement and then –

It’ll be beautiful Schadenfreude all the way that day…

And if I’m not in the pub then I’ll be first in the queue to tune in !

My mate’s grandson is a student in Glasgow…and has a wee job as a cleaner at the BBC ….Last night he was packing up to go home from his back shift…when he heard sounds of what he thought was an orgy going on….He peeked into the Sportscene studio…and all the Sevco supporting presenters were having an orgasm as the Referee blew the final whistle.
    True story…??
    Could be.
