After a secret meeting with Crawford Allan, Jonny McFarlane has been explaining the virtues of Scotland’s unbiased referees to readers of The Herald.

In recent years it has been proven that a Judge and Senior Police Officer allowed their support for Rangers to influence their job of work, incredibly it seems that Scotland’s part time referees are immune from that issue. Even when they are boozing in the Crown Bar in Bellshill or being congratulated by their staunch family members on Ibrox appointments.

It seems that the Brains behind Newsquest Sport is easily influenced, rather than taking the opportunity to quiz the Head of Refereeing at the SFA McFarlane is happy to act as a messenger.

Nothing has been published about the superior ability of referees from Lanarkshire and Glasgow over the rest of the country or how one club can go on a run of 68 SPFL matches without conceding a penalty.

McFarlane knows that these issues are very much live on social media but rather than engage with a new audience he prefers the old school sneering at anyone daring to question the integrity of match officials.

With the Revered Mike McCurry leading extremist Orange Groups and former referees boasting on the After Dinner circuit about how they applied their own Laws of the Game there is plenty of issues to put to the SFA. Unless you are a Herald subscriber.

What the public need at these ‘off the record ‘ pow wow’s ‘ is for someone to stick the camel’s nose under the tent to sniff out and expose the secrecy and informal pals act’ s chin wags to everyone who has an interest in Scottish football ? Someone with the Donegal’s to stand up and ask questions like for example : Mr Allen , why do you think that there are hundreds of thousands , if not millions of football fans in Scotland who believe that certain referees and officials give favourable decisions to the Rangers while the other clubs are given the regular rules decisions? Are they all wrong …every single one of them ?

  • Robert Jenkins says:

The real problem is the clubs do nothing about it.

Guy from Rangers Review , Ibrox season ticket holder and Rangers media monkey

Expects every body to believe there’s no cheating going on to help his team because Crawford Allan told him so

And he’s got the brass neck to paint other people as hard of thinking

The only way to deal with this is for supporters to stop attending matches in all divisions. We all know that the clubs will do nothing to address this, however, if fans don’t attend games then this would draw attention from all over and the SFA etc al would be in focus. This would only need one or two games to attract the necessary attention. As we know, clubs won’t get involved, but if fan sites make it known that the reason for their actions are to expose the corruption in our game then things might change.

Excellent , starve the boards of money .

  • John S says:

If Crawford Allan can’t accept responsibility for the dire and corrupt state of refereeing affairs then it is time for him to go.
