Off the park Celtic fans endured a night of misery in Rome tonight.

Hundreds of fans were locked out well into the first half despite being bussed to the Olympico Stadium from 3pm in the afternoon.

Inside the stadium security seemed very slack as flares and other missiles were directed into the away support.

There appeared to be little efforts by the stadium security to restrict the attacks with the 3,600 Celtic fans almost target practise.

On the park it was a case of what might have been with Celtic well in the match until they were sunk by two goals in the last 10 minutes.

Celtic had a couple of second half chances and applied some pressure but the appearance off the bench of Ciro Immobile galvanised the home side with the 33-year-old striker netting twice.

The hoops complete their Champions League campaign at home to Feyenoord in two weeks time.
