Crawford Allan is in for a very awkward week after an appeal against the red card given to Jose Cifuentes arrived at the SFA this morning.
The Ibrox star planted his boot onto the leg of Amadou Bakayoko, after allowing Dundee to play advantage Kevin Clancy booked Cifuentes but was prompted by Steven Kirkland to review the challenge on the VAR monitor.
A straight red card reduced the home side to 10 men for the second half but more concerning for them the sending off rules Cifuentes out of Sunday’s League Cup Final. Two yellow cards would have resulted in the suspension being applied to the next SPFL Premiership match.

The SFA will now bring together a three man appeal board who will review the foul and decide on the correct level of punishment.
While the natural instinct of the panel will be to reduce the sending off to a yellow card doing so exposes the judgement of two trusted SFA match officials, Clancy and Kirkland.
Recently the SFA issued a VAR review which claimed that only three out of 407 VAR decisions were incorrect.
Don Robertson will referee Sunday’s League Cup Final with Andrew Dallas on VAR duty, Philippe Clement will be limited in midfield with Nico Raskin, Ryan Jack and Tom Lawrence all missing through injury which could bring Kieran Dowell into an unlikely recall.

Mwahaha! So, having recently declared the virtual infallibility of VAR they will now have to publicly backpedal, just to allow the useless Cifuentes to play on Sunday?! Glorious.
and you can go to the bank with it being reduced to a yellow Clements has the S.F.A sussed already
Lol keep digging.
Yes, it was a deserved red card.
But, just like the sevco penalty awards…
what are the odds that the red card will be rescinded?!
And what b*llox will be trotted out to justify overturning VAR,
and also overturning a referee’s decision,
– after he himself had overturned his original decision from a yellow?
IF the red is rescinded,
then the game is well and truly a bogey,
and VAR should just be binned – along with the useless SRA match officials!
Don’t worry…our Club will be carefully watching the outcome…and if it’s reduced to a yellow…just wait for our OFFICIAL comment of disapproval…Or alternatively…don’t bother waiting.
